ARMDALE YACHT CLUB Welomes the Atlantea Expedition Team and are hosting a informational talk on their adventure before they return to France on Wednesday.

Young engineering students sail around the North Atlantic to study plankton and raise awareness of the importance of the oceans: that's the challenge taken up by the Atlantea expedition visiting the Armdale Yacht Club!

They set out from France in November with a 44-foot aluminum keelboat. This sailing boat is also an on-board laboratory, a means of uniting people around ocean preservation, a testing ground for environmentally-friendly navigation and the host of an extraordinary human adventure!

Want to know why plankton is a key element of ocean life? How it allows you to breathe? Wondering what frugal science looks like aboard a sailboat? Or worse, are you wondering if six young people aged 21 to 24 will really make it back to France via Greenland from Halifax?

Then join them this Tuesday, April 30 at 6:30 PM at the Armdale Yacht Club for a presentation and discussion of their project.

A group went to Topsail Beach near St. John's Newfoundland during Congress 2023 to clean the beach and collect data on the Marine Debris Tracker App. Thank you to the CLEAR lab and Dr. Max Liboiron for leading us through this activity.

Coming at a *very* relevant time, join a webinar with CMOS Halifax's own Jim Abraham the history of hurricane forecasting in Canada.

The presentation feature the recent historic storm that impacted Atlantic Canada, and discuss changes in the climate that are contributing to higher impact storms.
