The Nova Scotia Sea School has two exciting opportunities for youth ages 12-18 over the summer. Ships2Shores and weekly drop in session! Nova Scotia Sea School is a nonprofit organization that offers hands-on sailing and outdoor programs that help youth build confidence, leadership skills and a sense of belonging through experiential learning.
The Ships2Shores project is a fully funded, week-long sailing and community leadership experience for youth aged 12 - 18, based on the Halifax waterfront. The program has two parts: a fully funded sail training experience aboard our vessel, and, following the sailing portion, participants take part in a supported volunteer experience by creating and leading their own community service project. With mentorship from Board Reach Canada, youth identify an issue they care about, develop a plan and complete volunteer hours by putting their project into action.
This program is offered to youth from equity deserving communities, including (but not limited to): Indigenous youth, newcomers, racialized youth, 2SLGBTQ+ youth, rural or remote youth, and youth facing financial barriers.
Registration for the program can be found on our website https://www.seaschool.org/ships-2-shores
The Nova Scotia Sea School is ALSO offering weekly drop in sessions, starting Tuesday July 7th. These sessions give participants a chance to get on the water, learn new skills, and experience everything the Sea School has to offer in a fun, welcoming environment.
