It's Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day! Today we extend our appreciation and gratitude to all the hardworking and dedicated ECEs that create safe and supportive environments for young learners, and build the foundations for future generations.

Our NovaMuse contributors have created free resources for ECEs and other educators to access. Check these out for some fun for all ages and learners. https://novamuse.ca/EducationalResources/Index

June is National Indigenous History Month! This month, we honour and recognize the diversity, heritage and culture of First Nations, Inuit and Métis. We also recognize the ongoing impacts of colonization and reflect on how we can all contribute to reconciliation.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the contributions and rich cultural heritage of the diverse Indigenous people from across Canada. Here in Nova Scotia, we are on the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people who have lived here for time immemorial. To learn about the treaties and people of the land you are on, you can check out: https://native-land.ca/

Happy Pride Month!

Pride is a celebration of resilience and progress. We celebrate pride in June to remember the Stonewall Riots in 1969, which are widely considered to be the turning point in the Gay Rights Movement in the USA and Canada. In Nova Scotia, the first public protest came not long after, in 1977- just under 50 years ago.

This month we celebrate and highlight the history and contributions of the vibrant 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and remember the brave activists that have shaped our province 🌈
