JCI Halifax x NatCon 2026 🇨🇦 First Timers’ Journal Entry #5: General Assembly & Keynote Speaker by Andrew Beaulieu

General Assembly was so exciting because we got to witness elections and hear from the 2027 National Board! So proud of everyone who put their names forward for elections, it takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there and commit to leading the organization! JCI is really where true leadership is born! 🗳

At lunch we heard from the keynote speaker, Andrew Beaulieu and it was a great opportunity to feed our minds and bellies at the same time! 😋

JCI Halifax x NatCon 2026 🇨🇦 First Timers’ Journal Entry No.4: Hospitality Suite Event

JCI Leaders MTL's Hospitality Suite event was the best way to bond with people and relax after a long day of General Assembly! We danced, we sang, we played games and we found out each others’ secrets!! 💃

Thank you so much to all the organizing team, it’s hard to coordinate a good party and organize games to help strangers bond. 🎉☺

General Assembly was an eye-opening experience, it was fascinating to see how fired up our fellow chapter Presidents got when discussing the future of JCI Canada! With passionate leaders like that, JCI Canada is in good hands. Alicia was filling in and she couldn’t wait to get to vote on different agenda items too! 🗳

JCI Halifax x NatCon 2026 🇨🇦 First Timers’ Journal Entry #2: Opening Ceremony

In a room full of Canadian Jaycees, being the new ones can feel intimidating BUT our JCI Halifax team was so happy to reconnect with familiar faces from JCI Montréal, JCI Leaders MTL and JCI Ottawa as well as get to know some new faces from the JCI Kelowna, JCI Edmonton, JCI Kootenay, JCI Penticton, JCI Toronto and JCI Vernon at the Opening Ceremony! The Opening Ceremony was a great opportunity to break the ice before all of the NatCon activities!

JCI Halifax x NatCon 2026 🇨🇦 First Timers’ Journal Entry #1: Canadian Leadership Academy (CLA)

Our Local Vice President, Alicia Loo went into CLA expecting to learn some new things but she didn’t expect walking away with PAGES filled with amazing takeaways! She even came back with a mock budget for our chapter and ideas on how to get our projects to have positive cashflow! 💸

CLA was super informative thanks to the great presenters and the organizing committee. ☺

Introducing Sarah Loo!
💼 JCI Halifax Local President

As our local President, Sarah is excited to create opportunities for members to grow, connect, and turn bold ideas into impactful projects for the Halifax community. ✨

By day, she is a French Immersion Junior High School teacher in Nova Scotia and holds a Master of Education. Her career in Canada began in 2016 when she moved from Mauritius to St. John’s, Newfoundland. Since then, she discovered a lifelong passion for shaping young minds and building student confidence right here in Halifax. 🍎📚

Having joined JCI to connect with driven individuals who share her love for leadership, Sarah is now bringing that same educational heart to our chapter. She is deeply committed to giving young adults a space to lead, thrive, and lift one another up through community action. 🤝

Her vision beautifully reflects the core spirit of JCI: developing young leaders, building meaningful connections, and creating positive change through real action. We are incredibly excited to support her leadership and watch her inspire our members throughout the term! 🚀
