When creating Little Veggie Sale, we wanted to embody our own values that led us to create this new nonprofit into our everyday work. Our veggie sales will be led with joy while focusing on making fresh produce accessible for our fellow community members, while being transparent with you every step of the way.

🥕 Lead with Joy – We want every veggie sale to be a happy, joyful space where everyone in our community feels safe and welcome.

🥕 Food Accessibility – We believe everyone deserves access to healthy and affordable food.

🥕 Transparency – We will always share with you the sources of our produce, our partners, our suppliers and our finances so you know how we are making this little veggie sale a reality.

🥕 By Community For Community – We are a nonprofit created by community members addressing a need and will continue to work to meet the needs of our community.

Meet the team behind Little Veggie Sale! 🍠

Now as a registered nonprofit, Little Veggie Sale proudly has a founding board of directors made up of the same dedicated volunteer team who have provided more than 30,000 lbs of produce to the community over the past two years.

MacKenzie, Cameron and Angela, along with dedicated long-term volunteers Vivian and Sophie will continue to lead our veggie sales with joy with focusing on making fresh produce accessible for our fellow community members, while being transparent with you every step of the way.

We are so excited to officially introduce you to Little Veggie Sale! 🥒

Little Veggie Sale is a registered nonprofit that works to provide fresh, affordable and occasionally free produce to the Halifax community. We will provide monthly veggie sales where produce is just $1/lbs, as well as two free produce giveaway events annually.

Our sales will be led with joy while focusing on making fresh produce accessible for our fellow community members, while being transparent with you every step of the way.

We are so thrilled to announce that we are going independent!

After two incredible years operating as a Square Roots location, our team has made the decision to take our monthly veggie sale to the next level and operate independently. You can now officially call us, Little Veggie Sale 🥕

Operating as Little Veggie Sale will allow us to expand our operations, hold veggie sales more frequently, work with community partners, even offer a higher variety of produce items, all while still providing the produce to our community for just $1/lbs, with kindness and joy.

We are so grateful for the time we spent operating under the Square Roots name. Thank you to the incredible team at Square Roots for their dedication to reducing food waste and their support with our transition to Little Veggie Sale 🍎🥒

What a day! Despite the rainstorm, our Summer Free Produce Giveaway took place yesterday and it was a success 🌽

Our incredible team of volunteers braved the wind and rain to provide more than 3200 lbs of free produce to our community. More than 300 households each received 10 lbs of free produce of their choice, just in time for back-to-school 🍎

Our Community Table was filled with school supplies, oatmeal, period supplies, bubbles, colouring pages and more. Thank you to everyone who donated!

We'd also like to thank our friends at CUA for providing us an incredible $2500 grant, and our friends at North End Daycare for donating the space. We are so grateful for you 💚

It's here!! Our Summer Free Produce Giveaway is taking place today, Sunday, August 23 at 2700 Robie St from 10:30 am - 12 pm 🌽🥒

We will have more than 3200 lbs of apples, oranges, corn, cucumbers, red cabbage, green cabbage, carrots, sweet potatoes, potatoes and onions just in time for back-to-school 🍎

Produce is first come, first serve. Each household can select up to 10 lbs of the produce they'd like. Everyone is welcome and we can't wait to see you 💚
