Like a Girl is a Halifax based non-profit, extracurricular girls group that promotes gender equality, womens rights and open-dialogue of gender specific programming for young (grade 9-11) femmes. safe s*x practices, consent, s*xual assault and violence against women. The program is offered to all students that identify as femme currently enrolled in grades 9-11 (girls of the age range of 15-16).We are young women with a broad spectrum of personal and professional experience in the education system who are committed to advancing inclusive education programming that empowers young women. We believe that students learn best when they are able to openly engage with material and share ideas with their peers in a safe and welcoming environment , and recognize in our own experiences where the system can fall short in providing this positive environment to young women. By working together we aim to build a community where young women can blossom and learn to become empowered through shared experiences and education.We are educators, health care workers, students and young professionals committed to creating a positive community and advancing the empowerment of young women in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
