Institute of African Advancement Our mission

We work to preserve and advance values that empowers Africans. We operate provincially in Nova Scotia Halifax Regional Municipality.

The Institute of African Advancement is a not-for-profit organization created out of a need for an organization to respond to the loss of identity and cultural capital that immigrants experience when they arrive in Canada. We do this through culturally based programing, conferences, community engagement and enrichment events, local and international partnership. Our services

We work to build our

community with information access and referral, assessment, research and planning, skills upgrade for employment, cultural preservation and development, language translation, and helping adults to celebrate tradition. Communities we serve

We work to impact lives and deliver our services to: Africans, Official language minority community, Low income or living in poverty, Women and girls, Children and youth, Racialized (Black), Newcomers, Workers who are vulnerable and Students.
