Kidical Mass Halifax Kidical Mass is an international movement to create a “Kidical Mass” of families who want to enable children's independent and safe mobility.

Our rides are a celebration of cycling and a way to show that we need safe spaces to ride. Each ride is no more than a few kilometres, and is supported by community ride marshals. We strive to make each ride comfortable for people of all ages and abilities. Everyone is welcome, including children on their own bikes, and those without children!

Attention : HRM is looking for feedback on the Welsford Street AT connection between Friday June 19 and Friday July 3. There are two opportunities for you and your kids to be heard on this topic, but on short notice.

1. Complete the survey.
The only option that makes it safe enough for kids is CONCEPT 1: On-street Protected 2-Way Bikeway. Do not rank Options 2 and 3. Local Street Bikeways do not provide the safety and comfort we need.

2. Attend the pop-up engagement session, with your kids!
Mon June 22, 3-6pm on the Halifax Common (@ Robie & Welsford). Stop by during your evening commute from work, school or childcare. This is a great opportunity for kids & their grown-ups to be seen and heard by HRM AT planners.

Roll on over for a morning of wheels, wobbles, and big community vibes! 🚲✨

Join us Saturday, June 20 (10am–1pm) at the Woodlawn United Church parking lot for a family-friendly Bike Rodeo celebrating all things active transport. Whether you’re on two wheels, three, or just along for the ride, there’s something for everyone . . .

Participating organizations and businesses include Halifax Cycles, Kidical Mass, Ecology Action Centre, Woodlawn Residents Association, and Woodlawn United Church.

Specific plans continue to evolve but we expect bike demos, kid friendly skills course, bike wash station, and community BBQ.

Come celebrate community, movement, and the joy of riding together. 🚴‍♀️💙

In the spirit of community fun and paying it forward, donations for Dartmouth East Food Bank and Dartmouth Community Fridge are encouraged!
