THE STORIES WITHIN OUR LOGO
Chapter Two - The Trees

There’s another side to Halfmoon Bay. Step away from the shoreline and you are in the trees.

The sound changes.
The air changes.
And somehow, the pace changes too.

Our forests are woven into life here — the trails we walk, the wildlife we share this place with, the history of people who have worked in the timber industry, and those wonderfully ordinary moments when a walk in the woods reminds us just how fortunate we are to call this place home.

And they are part of our logo for a reason.

It’s easy to think of trees as simply the backdrop to life here. But they’re not really the backdrop at all.

They’re part of what makes Halfmoon Bay feel like Halfmoon Bay.

Another piece of our logo.
Another piece of our story.
Another piece of home.

When Gil Binne created the design selected in the 2020 community logo contest, he chose the trees to represent the land.

Each element of the logo tells part of our story. This is just the second. Because in Halfmoon Bay, the land doesn’t simply surround us. It grounds us.

Still deciding what to do this morning?

We’ve got the coffee on.

Coffee Talk starts at 10:30 this morning at Coopers Green Hall, which means there’s still plenty of time to throw on some shoes, grab a neighbour and come join us.

No agenda. No need to know anyone. Just coffee, treats, good conversation and an hour spent with people from your community.

New to Halfmoon Bay? Come meet a few neighbours.
Been here forever? Come catch up with them.

Sometimes community is as simple as showing up for a cup of coffee. ❤️

And this was how we finished the night.

Halfmoon Bay putting on a show of its own.

Music drifting across the water.
The last light of a well-spent day.
And a sky that made us stop and look.

A Lazy Daze evening at Cooper’s Green.

Sometimes the best part of living here is simply being here, together.

And then Brothers in Farms started a conga line…

By then, the lawn chairs had been abandoned.
People were dancing. Bubbles were floating through the air. Instruments, laughter, and music; the ocean just beyond us, and Coopers Green was full of neighbours, friends and families simply having a ridiculously good time together.

This is what a summer evening in Halfmoon Bay can look like.

Music by the ocean.
Dancing on the grass.
A few bubbles.
And apparently… a conga line.

This was Lazy Daze.

What a way to end the summer.

There’s a lovely moment at the beginning of a summer evening at Coopers Green.

The lawn chairs start appearing. Blankets are spread across the grass. Friends spot one another across the park. Someone heads for something to eat, someone else finds a cold drink — and then the first notes of live music drift out over the water.

This Friday, those first notes belong to Blue Western.

A Sunshine Coast favourite, Blue Western brings upbeat, danceable country music — the kind that makes sitting still increasingly difficult as the evening goes on.

They’ll be kicking off the music at Lazy Daze, before Brothers in Farms take us through the second half of the evening.

So come early.

Find your spot by the ocean. Grab some food and a drink.

Say hello to a neighbour you haven’t seen in a while.

And if Blue Western happens to coax you out of your lawn chair and onto the grass…

Well. That sounds like a pretty good summer evening to us.
