Haley Station Firefighters' Association

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of people, our dedicated team at the Haley Station Firefighters' Association were able to collect and donate more than $6700 today towards Muscular Dystrophy Canada! (We will wait for the bank to verify our exact count for a more precise number)

While we stood on the road for four hours, it is only because of so many kind people that we are able to raise those kinds of funds, which in turn go towards life-changing research and treatment for a wide range of challenges under the Muscular Dystrophy umbrella.

Thank you again for helping us many times over!

Now that the summer season is almost over and the kids back in school, you will find us gearing up for several events over the coming months!

First, we are going back into action with our annual Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy Canada | Dystrophie musculaire Canada ! If you are headed to the Shawville Fair on Saturday, September 5th, you will find our team located at the "Four Corners" of Chenaux Road, Queen's Line, and Storyland Road from 10 am - 2 pm.

If you can't make it our way, you can also donate online in the name of Whitewater Region Fire Department Station 1! Every single cent raised goes directly towards life-changing research and support for millions of Canadians!

Tonight at training, we had the pleasure of meeting two of our four inaugural Roy Church Memorial Bursary recipients.

Nicholas Henry is attending Pre-Fire Service at Fleming College, and Abbie Elliott is attending the Paramedic program at Cambrian College.

Both are promising young adults, with the intelligence, drive, and passion to achieve great things in the future. We were all thrilled to contribute a portion to those successes (only with your help at the Roy Church Memorial Co****le Tournament!).

(We are hoping to meet our other two recipients before they head off to post-secondary education - stay tuned!)

This week saw the end of the school year for our primary and secondary students - congratulations to everyone who graduated and moving on with big plans!

Particularly, congratulations to the four recipients of the inaugural Roy Church Memorial Bursaries! These students live in the Township of Whitewater Region and attend a variety of the high schools in the County. They are each receiving a $500 contribution to assist with their initial school costs.

Thanks to your generosity in 2025 at the Roy Church Memorial Co****le Tournament, we were able to contribute towards bursaries with the Renfrew County District School Board and Renfrew County Catholic District School Board! 2026 was an even bigger success, with the entry fees (and several generous donations designated specifically for the fund) from all 51 teams going directly into the accounts for 2027 bursaries.

Adam Martens - attending Pre-Service Firefighter at Fleming College.

Lydia Hoffman - attending Bachelor of Science in Nursing post-secondery.

Roy would be absolutely thrilled to see his legacy having a positive impact on those following in his footsteps. Thank you again to Liz Church, Ben Church, Shane Church, and the extended family, for their enthusiastic support!

Whenever you a see a fire truck, is it shiny and chrome? That's because our members always take the time to wash the trucks after every call.

Today, we had a basement structure fire, and everyone missed their dinner (which obviously pales in comparison to someone having to call insurance for fire, smoke, and water damage!) but that doesn't mean we miss our duties as members of the Whitewater Region Fire Department!

Here is Firefighter Steve making sure 9719 is free of contaminants after a call today!
