We're sending a big to our 'Help Send Kids to Camp' matching sponsor, Skyline Group of Companies, who matched donations up to $35,000 this year to help celebrate 35 years of ! 🥳

We're thrilled to share that thanks to their support, and the incredible support of our community, we've raised enough funds to provide over 560 weeks of camp experiences for children and youth!

While we're just shy of our goal of funding 625 weeks, this supper ensures that hundreds of kids will embark on unforgettable adventures of trying new activities, building friendships, growing their confidence, and making memories that will last long after the campfire fades. 💕🌞

We're thrilled to have two team members joining us this summer:

🌞 Kevin is joining us as our Data Assistant, and will be helping support us in strengthening our databases, cybersecurity training and tools. He is a Computer Science student at the University of Guelph who is passionate about food security, supporting our youth, and making a positive impact in ourt community!

🌞 Apinayaa is joining us as our Program Assistant, and will be working closely with our program team this summer with research and program evaluation/enhancement. She has a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science in Public Health, and a certificate in Psychology from the Toronto Metropolitan University and was drawn to CFGW because of her interest in work grounded in equity, diversity and inclusion.

A big thanks to Canada Summer Jobs for helping us provide youth with quality work experiences. Welcome to the team Kevin & Apinayaa!

Today (June 21st) marks the 30th Anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, which is a time to celebrate the traditions, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on or around June 21st because of the significance of the summer solstice, which is the longest day of the year.

At , we recognize that the land where we work is treaty land that is steeped in rich Indigenous history – where many First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples have lived, stewarded the land, loved their children, and supported each other in community.

We continue to use our platforms to help share resources to help the community continue to learn, reflect, and connect to supports if needed.

Services can be hard to access and may not reflect Indigenous ways of knowing or may come with barriers like discrimination. Below is a list of some local and national Indigenous resources:

Today, we celebrate all the "Father" figures who provide love, guidance, and support. We also recognize that this day may look and feel different for everyone. It may be filled with joy, reflection, grief, or a mix of emotions, and all of those feelings are valid.

Whether you're honoring a father, remembering one, or embracing the presence of a paternal figure in your life, we see you. Today is about love, gratitude, and appreciation in all its forms.

Today was our June staff meeting, our annual summer team gathering, as well as our pride spirit day 🏳️‍🌈✨☀️

We spent the morning connecting and talking about our new fiscal year, putting down our thoughts about our team, our vision/mission, and ourselves - and then we spent the afternoon doing some team building over games at Another World VR. 💛
