🐻 Program Launch Announcement – “A Friend in Every Emergency” 🏥

The Guelph Optimist Club is proud to officially launch our “A Friend in Every Emergency” Teddy Bear Program at Guelph General Hospital.

This week, members Thomas Miller and Janice DeMarco of the Guelph Optimist Club delivered the first shipment of teddy bears that will be provided to children arriving at the hospital in distress. When a child is facing a medical emergency, something as simple as a teddy bear can provide comfort, reassurance, and a friendly companion during a difficult moment. This initiative helps ensure that children visiting the Emergency Department receive a small gesture of care when they need it most.

For just $15, you can sponsor a teddy bear that may help calm a frightened child and bring a smile during an unexpected hospital visit. Every donation goes directly toward purchasing bears that will be distributed throughout the year to children in need of comfort at Guelph General Hospital.

We would like to thank the staff at Guelph General Hospital for partnering with us on this meaningful community initiative, and our dedicated Optimist members and supporters who helped make this program a reality.

The GUELPH OPTIMIST CLUB is proud to announce a new partnership with the DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY program.

Through this incredible literacy program founded by the Optimist club and its supporters, children from birth to age five can receive a FREE high-quality, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month.

The Imagination Library was created to inspire a love of reading, encourage early childhood literacy, and help families build meaningful reading time together. Since its launch, the program has gifted millions of books to children around the world and continues to make a lasting impact on young readers everywhere.

The Guelph Optimist Club is excited to help bring this opportunity to more local families and support childhood education right here in our community. ❤️📖

Together, we can help spark imagination, build confidence, and create lifelong readers — one book at a time.
