From dice games to trivia, Jenga to bingo, and science experiments & more the Intellectual Domain of Therapeutic Recreation thoroughly engages those living at The Elliott Community!

When asked, those who take part said they enjoy these activities so much because "it challenges me", "they keep me intellectually stimulated" and "these activities feel really good and validate my knowledge/memories".

While taking part in the 'dancing raisins' science experiment, one resident even said "we're learning new things everyday, we don't have to go to school!"

These experiences are why having a variety of programs from each domain of Therapeutic Recreation is so important, and above all, provides daily enjoyment!" Next time you're at The Elliott, check out the recreation programs we have on - who knows, you might learn something new!

February was Recreation Therapy Month, and we’re continuing to highlight the important role recreation plays in daily life at The Elliott Community.

Today we’re recognizing the Physical Domain where movement meets joy. From ball toss and bowling to outdoor walks and balloon volleyball, people living at The Elliott are staying active, building strength, and most importantly, having fun. Every stretch, step, and swing supports healthier bodies and happier hearts.

As one resident shared, “Getting outside for a walk makes my whole day better.” Another added, “I like to have fun with the beach ball. It keeps me moving.” 💪

🇨🇦 Today we’re cheering extra loud for Team Canada today in the Ellington! 🇨🇦

Hanna and Liz are very proud grandmothers, with their granddaughters competing on the Olympic stage today!

Rachael Karker is competing in freestyle skiing
Renata Fast is taking the ice with Canada’s Women’s Hockey Team

Dressed in Canada gear with our homemade signs, these proud grandmothers are sending all the love, encouragement, and pride from home.

What an incredible moment for their families, and for all of us cheering along. Go Team Canada! 🍁
