Speed Valley Chapter - Trout Unlimited Canada Freshwater Conservation Canada chapter for the Speed River Valley watershed.

This chapter works on the creeks and rivers of the Speed River Valley - an area that includes the city of Guelph, Ontario, and parts of Wellington County and the Region of Waterloo. This work includes bank rebuilding, stream channel narrowing, and temperature and fish population monitoring. The team is also working towards the removal of dams and reservoirs within this system and the renaturalization of the creek around off-line ponds.

Attention members!

It’s that time of year again for the speed Valley Chapter Annual General Meeting (AGM)!

The SVC AGM will be hosted on February 17th, 6:30-8:30 at Royal City Brewing Company in the side beer hall.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of delicious food and beverages while we highlight project successes from 2025 and look ahead to some initiatives we have in mind for the upcoming year. 🐟🐟

Members will be receiving an email invitation shortly, including a proxy voting form for anyone who may be unable to join but still wish their vote included on chapter administrative decisions.

We welcome all community members and others that may be interested in the work of our chapter and Freshwater Conservation Canada at large!

Join us for a Winter Social on Thurs. Nov. 27th at 7pm - An evening of reflecting and celebrating 2025. This year, we will be joined by our neighbours from the Speed Valley Chapter - Trout Unlimited Canada . Festive sweaters are encouraged!

It’s time for our final tree planting event of 2025! Hard to believe we squeezed in three planting days this year.

Join us on October 25th from 9:30 to 12:30 at the Kortright Hills Natural Area to plant native trees and shrubs in partnership with the The City of Guelph . This event will build on previous efforts to build natural cover which supports wildlife and plant habitat in addition to providing shade coverage that cools surface water before entering Hanlon Creek.
