The United States has placed a 50% tariff on Canadian Honey among other Canadian exports. Our industry depends on stable markets and predictable trade relationships. Changes to tariffs or other trade measures can have impacts throughout the supply chain, including honey producers, packers, retailers, and consumers.
The Ontario Beekeepers Association (OBA) is monitoring developments and will continue to advocate for policies that support Ontario beekeepers and the Canadian honey industry. We are also working with our industry partners to understand the potential impacts and ensure that the concerns of beekeepers are represented in discussions with government. The OBA has been working with the Canadian Honey Council (CHC) to prepare for this scenario.
We encourage Canadian retailers and consumers to choose Canadian, and particularly Ontario honey!
