Check out TTP's Queen and Nuc Business Courses.

The TTP is excited to share that we have developed three NEW courses, with in-person workshops coming this fall!!

With these courses, we hope to teach beekeepers the business side of operating a nuc and queen production. We understand that it can be challenging to start a nuc or queen production business and that there aren’t many resources currently available to help beekeepers understand what establishing or successfully maintaining a business looks like.

We are teaching each workshop in Guelph and Port Hope! If you wish to attend, please register using the linktree in our Instagram bio or through the Ontario Beekeepers’ Association Square webpage!

2026 HONEY, BEESWAX, & MEAD COMPETITION

Don't Forget! The competition books for the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair are now posted - https://www.royalfair.org/compete/honey-beeswax-mead/

Get your honey, wax, and mead ready to enter the 2026 competition. For those wondering what kind of jar to submit for honey, it has to be 500g (375ml) jars. Doesn't matter if it's tall or short, but must be 500g.

Check out the September 2023 Ontario Bee Journal for a great article by none other than Ken Coyle. He shares tips and tricks for getting the perfect entry ready for honey competitions.

Deadline is September 30th to enter! You don't have to have your actual submissions ready yet, just the commitment to be part of the competition.

Agricorp: financial and risk management programs for the farmers of Ontario

The United States has placed a 50% tariff on Canadian Honey among other Canadian exports. Our industry depends on stable markets and predictable trade relationships. Changes to tariffs or other trade measures can have impacts throughout the supply chain, including honey producers, packers, retailers, and consumers.

The Ontario Beekeepers Association (OBA) is monitoring developments and will continue to advocate for policies that support Ontario beekeepers and the Canadian honey industry. We are also working with our industry partners to understand the potential impacts and ensure that the concerns of beekeepers are represented in discussions with government. The OBA has been working with the Canadian Honey Council (CHC) to prepare for this scenario.

We encourage Canadian retailers and consumers to choose Canadian, and particularly Ontario honey!
