“What may seem like a simple construction project to us can mean safety, dignity, and renewed hope.”
— Carmine Nigro, Chair, Friends of the Orphans Canada

Chairman of the Board, Carmine and many of our project volunteers, have had the privilege of witnessing what happens when compassionate hearts step forward in service. They have seen lives changed, not only for the children we serve, but for those who come to serve alongside them.

Today, we are personally inviting you to join us.

In the communities we support in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, children are growing up in homes that need repair, reinforcement, and care. When volunteers show up, what feels simple can become transformational.

We are currently welcoming teams, church groups, schools, corporate volunteers, skilled tradespeople, families, and friends who feel called to make a difference. You do not need professional construction experience. Willing hands and open hearts matter more than you may ever know.

When we visit and work in our homes, we do far more than build walls or install roofs. We build relationships. We share laughter and prayer. Most importantly, we remind children that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten.

What does it feel like to have someone believe in your dream?

Just minutes before learning she’d been selected, Vicky Aguilar shared what this opportunity meant to her—and soon after, she became the women’s delegate representing NPH Mexico at Camp Marcet in Barcelona.

Six young people from across Latin America are stepping into an experience that nurtures confidence, discipline, and possibility—all because someone believed their dreams were worth supporting.

At Friends of the Orphans Canada, we’re proud to support NPH homes across Latin America and the Caribbean, helping open doors that young people may not have imagined possible.

What an unforgettable night. 💙

The Gift of Hope Gala brought together community, generosity, and purpose—and because of you, we raised $126,000 in support of children across Latin America and the Caribbean.

This evening would not have been possible without an incredible team behind the scenes.

A heartfelt thank you to the event planning and support team Juan Bernal, Teresa Salazar, Andrew hall and Ana Monard, along with the fantastic staff at the Toronto Congress Centre for bringing this vision to life, and for their care and commitment every step of the way.

Every step counts! And for children like Mariela, every step is a victory.*

Born prematurely in San Pedro and diagnosed with cerebral palsy, Mariela has faced challenges since the beginning. Her grandmother has been her greatest support, but therapy and specialized care were out of reach, until NPH stepped in.

Since 2021, Mariela has received physical, speech, occupational, respiratory, and aquatic therapy three times a week through NPH’s Disability & Inclusion Program. Today, she can sit upright, walk with support, communicate more clearly, and participate in daily tasks with newfound confidence.

This is what child sponsorship makes possible.
Each milestone—a word, a step, a smile: is a direct reflection of your generosity and belief in children’s futures across Latin America and the Caribbean.
