2026 Vocamus Writers Community Writing Workshops

“Poetry as Medicine”
By Brent Klassen
Heartwood Farm & Cidery

Explore the power of learning poems by heart.
Far from rote memorization, this is about the healing power of words.
Participants will be invited to bring along a poem they’d like to learn (preferably written by someone else), and we’ll workshop the learning process together.

“This workshop will invite you to begin (or continue) learning a poem, so please bring along a poem or two that you’ve always wanted to learn, but haven’t yet. Ideally, the poem(s) you bring aren’t ones you’ve written yourself - it’s more about finding the wisdom in the words of others.”
Brent Klassen

All the Vocamus Writers Community Workshops will be provided at Vocamus Press: In the adjacent building of First Baptist Church, located on 255 Woolwich St, Guelph, ON N1H 3V8

Registration details: Send an email to [email protected] to register for the specific workshop that you are interested in participating 48hrs before the workshop’s unique registration deadline.

That’s all! Registration is PWYC ($15 suggested).
-To be paid at the time of the workshop.
