Mira Clarke, Executive Director attended the first annual Riverside Read 2026, which took place on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Riverside Park.

This FREE event, was hosted by the Eden Mills Writers' Festival () and the Guelph Public Library () . It was the perfect opportunity to chill in the park with a good book, play book-ish lawn games with new friends and enjoy a beautiful afternoon in community.

How to find literary magazines that are a good fit for your work.

Stop letting your writing collect digital dust!

Whether you’re a first-time submitter drowning in choice paralysis or a seasoned writer looking to level up your submission game, this workshop demystifies the entire lit mag submission process.

Based on 5 years of submission experience and insights from the literary community, this crash course takes you from “what’s a lit mag?” to “thank you for accepting my piece!”

We’ll cut through the noise and give you exactly what you need to start getting your work out into the world.


All the Vocamus Writers Community Workshops will be provided at Vocamus Press: In the adjacent building of First Baptist Church, located on 255 Woolwich St, Guelph, ON N1H 3V8

Action Read would not be able to assist and support the members of our community without the special individuals that volunteer to tutor.

To our many volunteer Tutors, our humble "Thank You" does not seem nearly enough for the work you do each and every time you show up. The impact you have is enormous. Thank you for sharing your many talents with the Action Read community.

Another FREE event to enjoy...

We're thrilled to announce the first annual Riverside Read! This FREE community event is the perfect opportunity to get out of the house and enjoy three of the best things in the world: books, nature, and ice cream. The event, co-presented by Eden Mills Writers' Festival and Guelph Public Library, will take place at Riverside Park in Guelph (at the Green Pavilion near the Enabling Garden).

You can expect bookish lawn games, artisanal ice cream inspired by our favourite books, a visit from the Guelph Public Library's bookmobile, a book swap... and lots of room to read!
