The Benjamin Project grew from a children’s book about a dog published in 2018, and has since become an ongoing collaboration using books and creative projects to support animal shelters and rescues.

Through work with the Guelph Humane Society and other organizations, the project has involved students in writing and illustrating books about animals, helping raise awareness and support for animal care.

A new initiative, The Art of Animal Advocacy, will launch a fundraising calendar in 2027 featuring artist-made work to support animal welfare projects.

The Vocamus Writers Community Writing Workshops Series grew out of a need for writers in Guelph to have space to gather and write together after the pandemic years.

Launched in 2024, the year-round series offers monthly workshops led by volunteer instructors from a range of creative backgrounds, open to writers at all stages. The program continues to evolve as a space for writing, learning, and shared practice.
