When you do not have enough to eat, it impacts your ability to focus and perform at work or school. Having unreliable access to food can also cause stress and anxiety, impacting your mental health.

There are researchers, student groups and programs across campus working to address food insecurity at U of G. Learn about sliding-scale food markets, food access programs, financial supports and more on the Healthy Campus website.

Hey gryphons! Around this time of year social media often promotes the idea of a “beach body”. Lets clear some things up and learn some ways to enjoy your summer. Swipe to learn more!

Alt text:

Slide 2: What Does “Beach Body” Mean
Around this time of year, social media often promotes the idea that we need to change our bodies before summer in order to wear swimsuits or go to the beach.
For many people, this message can create pressure, comparison, and negative body image.

Slide 3: Let’s Clear Something up
You don't need to change your body to deserve summer.
Every body is a beach body!

Slide 4: What Summer Prep Can Look Like:
Drink water
Try to move your body in ways that you enjoy
Take care of your mental health
Try to eat foods that nourish and satisfy you
Wear sunscreen

Slide 5: What Summer is Really About
Instead of “Fixing” Your Body...
Make memories
Enjoy the outdoors
Wear clothes that make you comfortable
Spend time with the people who make you feel good!

Slide 6: Years From Now...
You won’t remember the size of your body
You will remember the moments you allowed yourself to enjoy

Slide 7: Try to Set Some Non-Appearance Goals
For Example...
Try to Move Your Body In Ways You Enjoy
Take Rest Days
Try a New Activity
Spend More Time Outside
Stay Hydrated
Try to be Kinder To Yourself
Try to Improve Sleep

Slide 8: Lastly...
A few reminders you can take with you this summer:
My body does not need to change to deserve summer
I am allowed to enjoy food without guilt
My worth is not defined by my appearance
Every body is a beach body

This post explores how grooming and abuse can shape self-worth, relationships, coping, and healing long after the harm ends. Vanessa’s story reminds us that survivorship is not linear, there is no “right” way to heal, and survivors are the experts of their own experiences.

Swipe through to learn more about trauma’s lasting impacts, supporting survivors without judgment, and accessing confidential supports at U of G and in our community. 💜

You are not alone. We believe you.
