A great day was had by the members, friends and families of the Provincial Grand Orange Lodges of Ontario West and East taking in the Toronto Blue Jays baseball game at the Sky Dome on Sunday.

The Loyal Orange supporters decked out in our red baseball style T-shirts cheered on the Toronto Blue Jays to an 8-1 rout against the Baltimore Orioles. The Blue Jays hit 3 straight home-run’s for the 1st time since June 9, 2012.

At our lunch stop, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 344 before the game, we raised over $900 for them to kick off their remembrance Poppy campaign for 2026.

On Wednesday the 26th of August, members of Prince Arthur LOL 1331 traveled to London Ont, to hold our monthly meeting in the community room of an apartment block which is home to Noel and Rita Hill. Because of continuing health issues, Bro Hill has not been able to attend any meetings in the past 15 months so it was suggested that the Lodge travel to London so Bro Hill could take part in our August meeting.
It turned out to be a great evening and we are thankful to Sister Rita for the lovely spread of egg, cheese and ham sandwiches, trifle, muffins and cake. It was agreed that we would hold another meeting in London, probably in the new year.

On Thursday the 16th of July, Prince Arthur Guelph were honoured and privileged to welcome a number of distinguished guests from Canada, Scotland and Northern Ireland to our Hall.
After visiting St. Jacobs Farmers Market and attending McCrae House, the birthplace of John McCrae, author of the famous first World War poem "In Flanders Fields", the Brethren then arrived at Guelph Orange Hall to witness and take part in the Royal Blue Degree whilst the women went to the shops.

Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, was one of the most quietly remarkable figures of the Victorian and Edwardian age.
Queen Victoria had nine children. Her favourite was Arthur. She said so, repeatedly, without apparent embarrassment, and nobody seems to have argued with her. He was born on 1sr of May 1850, the same day (different year) as the Duke of Wellington, who became his godfather. By the time he died, ninety-one years later, he had outlived every one of his siblings, two of his own children, and most of the world he had been born into.
He was a professional soldier for forty years, serving in Gibraltar, Egypt, India, Ireland, and Canada. He rose to the rank of Field Marshal and became the only British Prince ever to serve as Governor General of Canada. He was still turning up to encourage army recruits well into the Second World War when he was in his nineties, and new recruits found him a benign, baffling apparition from another century entirely. He was one of the godparents of the future Queen Elizabeth II. He had been born when her great-great-grandmother was on the throne.
He outlived his wife, his two eldest children, four monarchs, and the British Empire he had served his life. When he died in January 1942, he was the last surviving son of Queen Victoria and had witnessed more history than almost any royal of his generation.
