🎉Back and better than ever. Rediscover Richmond Hill. 🎉

Same great venue. Whole new vibe.

We’re excited to return to the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North in Richmond Hill, ON, this coming February, with fresh ideas for an elevated conference experience.

Based on your feedback, we’re expanding session capacity, enhancing AV technology, and making full use of this outstanding venue so attendees can access their preferred lectures and workshops.

What can you expect?

• Reimagined use of venue space to maximize learning.
• Interactive room layouts and an enhanced schedule.
• Exceptional menu choices and refreshments, once again, that will fuel full days of CE.

As always, expect to immerse yourself in clinical tracks delivered by leading veterinary experts, who will share new treatment protocols and the latest medical updates. And what’s a conference without a little fun! Whether you’re connecting with industry partners in our always popular exhibitor hall, or unwinding with old friends and new faces at our event social, the OAVT Conference is where you’ll want to be.

Mark your calendar for February 25-27. You belong at OAVT 2027.

Last week’s post about the RVT Advancement Fund included a misprint about the application deadline.

If you’re planning to apply for funding through this year’s program, applications must be submitted by Friday, June 19th, not June 30th.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We are wishing all 2SLBTQI+ members a happy Pride Month!

We believe diversity makes our Association better – so much so, we put it right in our mission statement:

"To improve the lives of animals by inspiring a diverse community of Registered Veterinary Technicians to positively impact human, animal, and environmental health."

When an RVT reached out with concerns that the new College of Veterinary Professionals of Ontario will require all members to list previous names on the registry, and the impacts this could have on the transgender community, we flagged the issue for the Transition Council. Yesterday, the Transition Council discussed expanding their proposed bylaws to allow members to omit previous names from the registry in cases where safety might be a concern.

Your association has your back! You can reach out to us anytime at [email protected].

We know many of you are eagerly awaiting the results of our wage survey. We are too! This year, we did something a little different and teamed up with the other veterinary technician associations across the country to hire consultants, Finley and Associates. The survey was robust, and putting together all that data takes time. We hope to share all the information Finley and Associates gathered in the next couple of months. Thanks for your patience!
