Our Elevator Project is moving to the next stage of construction next week!

From Monday June 22, 2026 to project completion (current end date: July 31st), we'll not have a functioning elevator between floors.

This may impact access to some services for those with mobility issues; our blue doors (drop-in doors) will have a temporary ramp, however both the main and upper floors can only be accessed by stairs. If you are concerned that you will be unable to access services, please:

• inform the front-desk of your concern
[email protected]
• call 519 837 3777

Our drop-in doors were feeling the wear and tear of welcoming over 57,000 people last year. Daniel Bell, one of our Pastors and Facility Manager, had this to say:

"This past week I repaired and refinished our “blue doors” These doors serve as our main entrance for our drop-in and meal programs (along with many other programs and resources). Last year over 2500 unique individuals walked through these doors to access our services, resulting in over 55000 visits (150+ per day). These doors bit only serve as an entrance to our space, but as a front door to a place many people call home. Thank you to everyone who makes it possible for us to keep these doors open."

Did you know that one of the acts in this year’s Ward One Acts Festival is an adaptation of from Stories From the Mission?

Each year Guelph Little Theatre presents the summer Ward One Acts Festival. This is theperformance of four short plays, in one session, and is an engaging and intimate live theatre experience.

Two true tales from Stories from the Mission have been adapted for the stage in a play called “Broken.” This play follows two people and their interactions with RCM.

They say "once part of Hope House, always part of Hope House," and that couldn’t be truer today. We are sharing the news that our Executive Director, Jaya James, will be moving on to lead another wonderful organization. While we’ll miss her leadership dearly, we are so proud of the journey she’s embarking on! Stay tuned—their official announcement drops next week, and we can’t wait to celebrate her then.

As we look to the future, we are thrilled to welcome Mike Weickert as our Incoming Interim Executive Director starting May 4. We know we are in excellent hands.

To our incredible donors, sponsors, partners, and volunteers: you have walked beside us for ten years. You are the heartbeat of this work, and we are so grateful to continue this mission with you.

Join us today in our Sanctuary as we hold our Community Memorial between 11am and 2pm.

We regularly hold community memorials to grieve and remember together; holding space for those we have lost.

This memorial will be drop-in style, with different stations which allows participants to direct their own level of engagement. Feel free to join us, whether you stay for much of the time or just a few minutes.

When was the last time you needed an elevator operator to get you to the right floor? Royal City Mission's current elevator still requires this old-timey way to usher people between floors. Not only is does this make RCM less accessible, the current elevator itself requires a lot of maintenance and has entered its last days of service.

Help us make RCM more accessible and functioning for all - please spread the word and consider donating to this project.
