Our Story

Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations. Town & Gown Toastmasters is part of this network. We are comprised members from the Guelph and area Community (the “Town”) and the University (the “Gown”) from all walks of life. Every Wednesday morning, we come together for an hour and help each other improve our public speaking and leadership skills. There is no instructor. Instead, following an education program called Pathways each speech and meeting is critiqued by a member in a positive manner, focusing on what was done right and what could be improved. You set the pace at which you complete your education program.

Our mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. We do this by following Toastmasters International Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence.
