Beyond grateful for our 2023 coaches 🙌

Coaches are the heartbeat 💓 of any youth sports club and that is especially true at RiseUp ☀️🏐This season would not have been possible without the commitment, care and extraordinary leadership of all of our assistants, seniors and lead coaches 🙏

Thankful for the energy, knowledge and compassion you all brought to our athletes every session this summer 👏🫶

Playing history (beach + indoor): Played indoor with smash for six years and trained in beach volleyball for a few years

- What motivates you to coach beach volleyball this summer?: I love being outside and I love how challenging volleyball is on the sand. I also love the community in beach volleyball. I’ve stepped away from my competitive career and would like to start getting more involved in coaching!

- What's your favourite part about coaching: My favourite part about coaching is getting to know athletes and being able to connect with them.

- Do you have a coaching idol that's inspired you to get involved yourself: Lisa Watson!

- What do you like most about the sport of beach volleyball?: The beach!

- Do you have a current or past beach player idol? Male or female. Or team: Melissa Humana-Paredes

- Fun fact about yourself (non vball related is better): I’ve been a band kid for six years and still counting! I can play 4 instruments.

- What are you most excited for this summer?: My beach volleyball coaching debut!

- What's your favourite song right now?: Long Time Running - The Tragically Hip

- How would you spend your ideal summer day?: Spend the morning at the beach, catch lunch with a friend, listen to music, read a book, and go to sleep early.

- What's your favorite beach?: Southampton beach!

- What's your most important item to bring when you go to the beach, (to play or just chill)?: Spike ball!

Playing history (beach + indoor):
I have been playing indoor for 8 years and am currently going into my 18u season. I have also been playing beach for 7 years.

What's your favourite part about coaching?:
I love watching the players grow as individuals becoming better people and also improving skill wise becoming better athletes!

What do you like most about the sport of beach volleyball?:
It pumps my adrenaline! All the fears of getting awful floor burn go away when playing beach and it’s always fun to get a bit sandy. Plus a good shorts tan is always a bonus :)

Fun fact about yourself (non vball related is better)
I have 7 food allergies (gluten, dairy, all nuts, sesame, fish, beef, soy)

What are you most excited for this summer?
Coaching beach volleyball of course! But off the court I am super excited to have a chill summer and read endless amounts of books.

What's your favourite song right now?:
Loving you easy by Zach Brown Band

How would you spend your ideal summer day?:
Reading by the beach and then getting bubble tea with the fam or some friends

What's your favorite beach?:
Coburg beach is a must! Especially when playing in a tournament the cool breeze off the lake is perfect on a hot day!!!

What's your most important item to bring when you go to the beach, (to play or just chill)?:
Bucket hat… plus a water bottle (always gotta stay hydrated)

What's your favourite summer sport?:
Other than beach volleyball, I would have to say baseball… if it counts as a summer sport??

Devon Lowe and partner Carys Pike finished 2nd at the Canadian National Beach Championships D2!!!!!!!!🥈

This gritty team fought through some tough 3rd sets on their road to the podium. Awesome to watch how much fun these ladies had together over the weekend!
