Children's Reading Room

Children's Reading Room The Children's Reading Room (CRR) is a non-profit registered charity, family resource centre that promotes early literacy and a love of reading!

Each time anyone visits the CRR, they will go home with a free children's book! It's theirs to keep, read, love, and cherish. No need to sign up for a membership or return the book. The space will be welcoming and attractive. A place families can come, browse books, read to their child and select the books which interest them. We will strive for excellence in cultural representation and make it as

inclusive and barrier-free as possible. Most of the books will be used and donated by the community. We are Registered Early Childhood Educators and we plan to run literacy programming such as story and song circle time and crafts. We will also distribute early literacy resources for parents and caregivers and provide other resources or referrals when needed. Reading is the gateway skill to so much knowledge. Research indicates that children who have their own personal libraries at home, which are truly their own, enjoy books, read earlier, read more often, are more likely to pursue post-secondary education and continue to read throughout their life.

Last-minute update. Sadly, Heather can not join us tomorrow, but Courtney Harris will be filling in for her reading spot. We always enjoy Courtney's visits with us.
