1882 Army Cadets took part in a CAF engagement activity where the 11 FD Artillery Reserve unit shared their kit and equipment. Cadets enjoyed hands-on experience with the tools of the trade, asking plenty of questions and learning directly from reservists. The interaction sparked curiosity, built understanding of service, and gave cadets a closer look at life in the Canadian Armed Forces. It was an engaging, informative opportunity that strengthened connections between youth and the military. A big thank you to our affiliated unit. 🪖

❄️🔥 EX ARCTIC GUNNER 🔥❄️

Cold? ✅️Snow?✅️ Cadets ready to get after it? ✅️✅️

In February, cadets from 1882 “The Wellington Rifles” RCACC, 1943 Norwell (Palmerston) RCACC, 361 Fergus Artillery RCACC, 99 Lynx RCACS, 895 Fred Campbell V.C RCACS, and 734 Alliston RCACS hit Blackdown Cadet Training Centre for a proper winter FTX.

We pushed through snowshoeing, Toboggan pulling, building improvised shelters, Arctic tent setup and tear-down, and keeping field amenities running in freezing temps. Leadership was tested, teamwork was built, and morale stayed high. Nothing slows down motivated cadets.

Exercise Arctic Gunner wasn’t just about surviving the cold, it was about getting stronger, working together, and proving what cadets are made of.

Cold conditions. High morale. Tough cadets. Mission accomplished. ❄️💪

🎄 Wrapping Up 2025 with Gratitude and Cheer! 🎄
Before the holidays, our cadet unit came together with our sister affiliated cadet corps (Fergus Army Cadets and Norwell Army Cadets) for a festive Mess Dinner filled with camaraderie, laughter, and tradition. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the season and the incredible efforts of the cadets and staff throughout the year.
As we close out 2025, we hope everyone has had a Happy Holiday Season and a safe, joyful start to the New Year. Thank you for your dedication and spirit, our corps is stronger because of each of you.
We look forward to seeing everyone back for training in 2026. Let’s make it another year of growth, teamwork, and success! 💪✨

🎯 Sharpshooters in the Making!
Our cadets are honing their marksmanship skills with a focus on precision, breathing control, and mental discipline. Every shot counts as they learn to achieve tight groupings and sharpen their ability to stay calm and focused under pressure. It’s not just about hitting the target, it’s about mastering the art of patience and control. 💪

This weekend, our cadets endured chilly, wet weather to take on a challenging biathlon competition! They ran a total of 3 km while showing off their marksmanship skills! 🌧️💪

Despite the conditions, spirits were high and the energy was contagious. From muddy terrain to steady aim, our cadets gave it their all and had a blast doing it!

We’re proud of their performance and can’t wait to see the results of their hard work in the coming weeks. Stay tuned! 👀

On the eve of Remembrance Day, 1882 Army Cadets stood in solemn tribute during a vigil at the cenotaph in Guelph.
Through falling snow and sub-zero temperatures, they held their ground, honouring the brave Canadians who gave their lives for our freedom. Their unwavering presence was a powerful act of remembrance, a living symbol of gratitude and respect.
We are incredibly proud of these young leaders who stood not for recognition, but for those who can no longer stand.
Lest we forget. 🇨🇦

Our cadets have been proudly supporting the Royal Canadian Legion by distributing poppies in our community, honouring those who served and sacrificed. This year, they also had the unique opportunity to assist with a special Remembrance project at the University of Guelph helping tie hundreds of crocheted poppies to a commemorative display. It was a meaningful way to give back and reflect on the importance of remembrance. We encourage everyone to wear a poppy with pride and attend your local Remembrance Day ceremony on November 11th. Let’s come together to honour our veterans and ensure their legacy lives on.

The 1882 Guelph Army Cadets took full advantage of the beautiful weather, spending time outdoors learning the fundamentals of canoeing. As part of our elemental training program—which includes hiking, biking, and paddling—cadets developed essential expedition skills while building confidence and teamwork. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, challenge themselves, and have a great time on the water. We’re proud of their enthusiasm and progress!
