September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day. On this day, people will gather in communities across Canada and around the world to show support for su***de prevention efforts, to remember and celebrate the lives of those who have died by su***de, to comfort those who grieve the loss of a loved one to su***de and to strengthen connections and community together.

Around 4,500 people die by su***de in Canada every year. That’s 12 people dying by su***de each day.

These deaths are preventable.

If you’re thinking about su***de, reach out for help. Call 9-8-8 or reach out to a trusted friend.

You can help others by identifying yourself as someone they can trust if they’re in crisis.

Le 10 septembre est la Journée mondiale de prévention du su***de. Ce jour-là, des gens se rassembleront dans des communautés partout au Canada et dans le monde pour manifester leur soutien aux efforts de prévention du su***de, pour se souvenir et célébrer la vie de ceux qui sont morts par su***de, pour réconforter ceux qui pleurent la perte d'un être cher décédé par su***de et pour renforcer les liens et la communauté.

Au Canada, environ 4 500 personnes se su***dent chaque année. Cela représente 12 personnes par jour.

Ces décès peuvent être évités.

Si vous avez des pensées suicidaires, demandez de l'aide. Appelez le 9-8-8 ou confiez-vous à un ami de confiance.

Together we can by changing the narrative on su***de. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of understanding and support.

Su***de Safer Network is hosting a FREE safeTALK on May 7th!

To honor Mental Health Week, SSN will be hosting a free safeTALK workshop.
This 3.5- hour Livingworks safeTALK workshop prepares anyone over the age of 15 to be more alert to su***de and better able to connect them with further help. Using a simple, yet effective model, safeTALK empowers everyone to make a difference.
