The North Bay Sectional was held this year in Callendar at a lovely venue - the Osprey golf course. The tournament was very ably directed by our own Norm Malette and the North Bay organizers did a wonderful job.
The snack table overflowed with delicious snacks and the overall playing atmosphere was very friendly. A total of sixteen Sudbury members competed including six in the 299er games.
Sectional Ace of Clubs awards were handed out by Millie Wood Colton, president of Unit 238 and Sudbury recipients included: Rob Puro, Shayne Wisniewski. and Jennifer O'Hara in their respective point categories.
Some of our members distinguished themselves in games on both Friday and Saturday including Elaine Tisdale and Debbie Grillanda, who came first overall in the first 299er on Friday, (obviously morning people.). Elaine and Rob Assabgui scored in their sections in the morning and afternoon sessions on Friday. As well, Millie Wood Colton and Linda Wilson came second in their section in the first game on Friday and second game on Saturday. Vicki Dale and Jennifer O'Hara peaked on day one with a first overall result in the second game on Friday. In the Sunday Swiss, the team of Leslie Dickson, Asha Sharan, Vicki Dale and Jennifer O'Hara came third out of twelve teams.
Many of us were very pleased to see Ray and Ray Lendt playing together in every event. They both said that they really miss us (yay).
The tournament offered a chance for a big group to go out for dinner together and share laughs and commiserate briefly on auctions and play, another plus.
