Last night, our Traffic Management Unit checked 377 vehicles in to ensure sober driving during a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) check. Results were as follows:
Operation while Impaired & BAC 80+ : 2 drivers
Provincial Warn Range Suspensions: 2 drivers
Approved Screening Device Roadside Tests: 27
Criminal Code - Driving while prohibited: 1 driver
Highway Traffic Act - Drive while under suspension: 2 drivers
Driving with hand-held communication device (cell phone) : 1
Other Provincial Offences: 3

Impaired driving is never an option. Plan ahead; have a designated driver, call a cab, use public transit or plan to stay the night.
