NISA Peer Support North In all that we do we aim to offer a space for Being, Belonging, and Becoming. Being: a basic acceptance of oneself; not having to apologize for one's existence.

NISA is a peer-run, recovery-oriented mental health organization located in downtown Sudbury which offers peer support along with active living, and creative and skill development programming. Belonging: having other people to relate to; being part of a group; having 'family'. Becoming: developing new skills and pathways in life. We at NISA feel we have much to offer to the process of mental health reform. We have a working model for organization, cooperation, and community involvement. We have acquired experience, and a knowledge base which we have documented and shared with others both in Ontario and internationally.

It’s Global Peer Support Celebration Day and we couldn’t be prouder of the team at Peer Support North who use their lived experiences every day to support others on their mental health and substance use health journeys.

Sometimes, it helps to talk to someone who truly understands.

(Lauren and Ginette are just two of the dedicated people behind Peer Support North. Keep following our social media channels as we introduce more of our team and share the impact they're making every day at 36 Elgin Street, in community and through virtual support.)

Today, our staff and students are getting ready for our weekly "Food is Mood" class and looking ahead to a Thanksgiving weekend of gratitude and reflection.

With tomorrow, we encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with themselves, show compassion to others, and remember that reaching out for support is a sign of strength.

Wishing you a happy, healthy Thanksgiving weekend from all of us at Peer Support North (formerly NISA).

As we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and Indigenous communities who continue to carry the impacts of this painful legacy.

Yesterday, participants in our programming created orange buttons in honour of Orange Shirt Day, taking time to reflect, learn, and show their support for truth and reconciliation.

At Peer Support North (formerly NISA), we are committed to fostering spaces where people feel heard, respected, and connected, while continuing to learn from and support Indigenous voices in our community.
