We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Vanessa, a courageous survivor of human trafficking.

We are incredibly proud of her remarkable achievement. Today, despite facing countless challenges, overcoming tremendous adversity, and persevering through obstacles that would have discouraged many, Vanessa graduated with a College Diploma in Health Services Office Administration.

Her journey is a powerful testament to resilience, determination, and the strength of the human spirit. She has transformed hardship into hope and demonstrated that a person’s past does not define their future.

Vanessa, your dedication, perseverance, and hard work have brought you to this milestone, and we celebrate this accomplishment with you. Your success is an inspiration to survivors everywhere and a reminder that healing, growth, and achievement are possible.

Congratulations, Vanessa. We are honored to celebrate this well-deserved achievement and look forward to all that you will accomplish in the future.

A Pickering man has been found guilty of four human-trafficking and related counts by a Barrie judge stemming from a 2024 case where police intervened after discovering two women were working in the s*x trade at a south-end hotel.

Terrell Ochrym, 47, showed little emotion as Superior Court Justice Mary Vallee found that the Crown had proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt on four of the five counts in the indictment.

Working methodically through each charge in her hour-long judgment, Vallee found Ochrym guilty on two counts of trafficking in persons, one of procuring and one of receiving a material benefit from s*xual services.

Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrest and charge 34-year-old man

On March 11, 2026, our Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit working in collaboration with our Emergency Response Unit (ERU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Greater Sudbury. As a result of the search warrant, detectives seize several electronic devices from the residence. These devices were analyzed by our Computer Forensic Unit for child s*xual abuse and exploitation material (CSAEM – formerly referred to as child po*******hy).

Based on the investigation, 34-year-old, Sye Sampson was arrested by detectives on May 19, 2026, and charged with the following offences:
• Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
• Access Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material
• Make Available Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material

Sye Sampson appeared in bail court on May 19, 2026, to answer to the charges.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit is part of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.

Michel Albert’s long-delayed dangerous offender hearing was supposed to get underway this week.

Instead, the case has become bogged down by applications that Albert had filed challenging his convictions for assaulting and attempting to kidnap a girl as she was walking to school in New Sudbury six years ago. For Albert, it was the latest in a string of convictions for physically or s*xually abusing children.

We are beyond excited to share that we’ve officially reached our goal!

We are incredibly grateful to West End Wellness and Medical Aesthetics for sponsoring our survivors’ trip, and to every single person who donated and supported this cause. Your generosity and kindness truly made this possible.

Any additional funds received will go directly toward supporting the survivor’s future needs and ongoing journey.

Thank you all so much for believing in this mission and helping make such a meaningful experience possible. We can’t wait to share the wonderful news with the survivor that she’s going on her trip!

Help Needed for a Brave Young Survivor ❤️

We are reaching out today to support an incredibly courageous 14 year old survivor who dreams of attending her Grade 8 end of year school trip. This is a milestone every child deserves the chance to experience.

Over the past year, this young girl has shown remarkable strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable challenges. She has committed herself to healing by attending weekly counselling sessions, showing up to school consistently, and working hard every single day to rebuild her confidence, her future, and her sense of normalcy.

Like so many children her age, she deserves the opportunity to laugh with friends, make memories, and celebrate this important chapter of her life. For her, this trip is more than just a school outing. It is a chance to feel included, supported, and hopeful again.

We are hoping to raise $575 to cover the full cost of her trip and ensure she does not miss out because of circumstances beyond her control.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference and help remind this young survivor that there are people who care deeply about her future and her healing journey.

Donations can be made via etransfer to:
[email protected]

A charitable tax receipt will be issued to all donors.

Thank you for helping us give this deserving young lady a moment of joy, belonging, and celebration that she will never forget.
