Another life has been lost in our community.

Today, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this loss. Out of respect for those grieving, we will not be sharing details surrounding the circumstances.

What we can say is that this loss is a heartbreaking reminder that many people in our community continue to face dangerous and often life-threatening conditions while living without safe, stable housing. Every person deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to access the support they need.

Our team remains committed to supporting those most vulnerable and advocating for meaningful solutions. We are actively working alongside community partners, service providers, and municipal leaders to explore safer, more responsive approaches that prioritize both human dignity and community safety.

While complex challenges rarely have simple answers, we believe that collaboration, compassion, and urgency must remain at the forefront of our collective efforts.

Tonight, we ask our community to hold space for those grieving and to remember that behind every headline, statistic, or public discussion is a human being whose life mattered.

May they rest in peace. 🤍

It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of another member of our community.

Today, we pause to remember a life that mattered. A person who was loved, who had a story, and who leaves behind an absence that will be felt by those who knew them.

Out of respect for their dignity and the privacy of their loved ones, we will not be sharing details. Instead, we ask our community to take a moment to reflect on the importance of compassion, kindness, and looking out for one another.

To those grieving this loss, please know that you are not alone. Our thoughts are with the family, friends, and all those impacted.

Every life has value. Every person deserves to be remembered with dignity.

Rest peacefully. 🕊️ 🤍

As temperatures rise, many members of our community face long days with limited access to shade, hydration, and basic necessities. Through our Mobile Outreach Program and the Energy Court Drop-in Centre, we work to provide essential supports that help people stay safe, comfortable, and connected to services throughout the summer months.

We're currently collecting items such as bottled water, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, baby wipes, first aid supplies, sleeping bags, and freezies/popsicles to help us meet the growing need.

Every donation, big or small- makes a meaningful difference. Your generosity helps us continue providing practical, compassionate support to those who need it most.

Thank you for standing with our community and helping us make summer a little easier for everyone. ❤️

At The Go-Give Project, we believe that learning never stops.

Over the past few weeks, our frontline team has continued to invest in professional development to strengthen the support we provide to our community. Staff have successfully completed ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training), enhancing their ability to recognize, respond to, and support individuals experiencing thoughts of su***de.

Our commitment to ongoing growth continues as team members will also be participating in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training, delivered internally, to further develop skills in de-escalation, crisis response, and maintaining safe, respectful environments for everyone we serve.

By investing in our staff, we invest in the people who rely on our services. Thank you to our dedicated team for their commitment to learning, compassion, and excellence in frontline care. ❤️

A very special thank you to everyone who attended our first “No Shame. No Blame.” event last night. 💙

With 35 participants in attendance, we opened the floor to honest conversations and meaningful questions surrounding opioids, toxic drugs, overdose and drug poisoning signs and symptoms, stigma, support, and so much more.

We are especially grateful to guest speaker Carrie Brunet, who bravely stood before the room and shared her experiences standing alongside her late brother, Dan. Her courage and storytelling were incredibly moving, giving everyone a glimpse into the fighting spirit Dan, and so many others like him have carried every single day.

Thank you as well to guest speaker Reggie Caverson, who spoke about her book Opioids, touching on the origins of prescription drug supplies and the far-reaching consequences communities continue to face today.

We concluded the evening by equipping and training everyone in the room to identify symptoms of overdose and/or drug poisoning, how to respond and how Naloxone can potentially save a life. The engagement was fantastic.

A sincere thank you to Dr. Richard Denton of Rotary District 7010 for hosting the event and generously donating $450 to The Go-Give Project.

We would also like to thank the YMCA Sudbury for donating the space and helping make this important conversation possible.

This was our very first event of this kind, and we are incredibly grateful for the compassion, openness, and willingness to learn shown by everyone in attendance. Conversations like these matter. Together, we continue working toward a community rooted in understanding, dignity, and support, with no shame and no blame. ❤️

Don't forget to join us tomorrow evening for the “No Shame, No Blame” event. ❤️

This gathering is about creating space for honest conversation, education, compassion, and community connection surrounding substance use, mental health, grief, recovery, and stigma.

Whether you have lived experience, support someone who does, work on the frontlines, or simply want to learn more, you are welcome here.

Together, we continue to remind people that shame does not save lives- compassion does.

Today we had the opportunity to attend the Community Living Greater Sudbury Inclusion Coffee Chat as part of Community Living Month 2026. It was encouraging to see so many community leaders, organizations, and advocates come together for meaningful conversations around inclusion, belonging, and building a more welcoming Sudbury for everyone.

The panel shared important perspectives on accessibility, community connection, and the importance of ensuring every individual feels seen, valued, and supported. We are grateful to have been part of the discussion and appreciate the work being done across our community to continue moving these conversations forward.

A couple of things really stood out for us today and we would like to share those with you all here.

Ryan Benoit at The Positive Inception shared a powerful statement "Your differences are really your super powers," and although simple, the ripple of the impact behind those words was tangible in the room.

Jackie Balleny from Sudbury District Restorative Justice Réparatrice du District de Sudbury referenced the importance of youth inclusion and shared her experiences working both in school settings as well as on the Icelandic Prevention Model.

Kevin Cooper from Sudbury Community Service Centre shared the importance of understanding our differences. Whether it be a difference in race, gender, ability or something else, we can't build a fully inclusive community without understanding.

Both Paul Lefebvre and Jamie West shared valuable insights into all of the discussions around inclusion and we are grateful for Viviane Lapointe moderating this panel.

We want to say a very big thank you to Community Living Greater Sudbury for hosting such a thoughtful and collaborative event and to the speakers for highlighting and educating us all further on the power of inclusion! 💚 ☕️

You're Invited! ✨️

We are excited to share that we have partnered with Rotary District 7010 and the YMCA Sudbury to bring the "No Shame. No Blame" event to our community. 🙂

Across Ontario, No Shame No Blame events create space for honest conversations around substance use, overdose, grief, recovery, and mental health without judgment or stigma. These events bring together families, frontline workers, people with lived experience, and community members to raise awareness, share stories, remember those lost, and promote compassion over criticism. At their core, these gatherings recognize that substance use and addiction are complex public health issues, not moral failures and that shame only pushes people further into isolation. Similar awareness initiatives across Canada and internationally continue to emphasize dignity, education, and community support as essential parts of the response to the toxic drug crisis.

Join us as we talk about real time data and impacts in our community, featuring stories from loved ones and people with lived experience. We will conclude the evening with Naloxone training session, where you can pick up your free Naloxone Kit!
