Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization based on the principle that someone other than the criminal always has information that can solve a crime. It operates independently of law enforcement agencies and is managed by a Board of Directors composed of community members. T

he Board sets policies, assists with public awareness initiatives, and raises funds to pay rewards and cover operational costs. Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers empowers people to make their neighbourhoods, schools and businesses safer through the anonymous reporting of crime. Our area of responsibility is the City of Greater Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin Island, the North Shore, Alban, Noelville, Killarney, Britt, Markstay-Warren, and Highway 144 North to the Watershed

Meet Flora, our favourite “repeat offender” whose only crimes are excessive joy and weaponized cuddles. She’s serving time for being too lovable — and she’s officially up for parole to the right home.

If you’d like to meet Flora — or any of the other amazing pets looking for their second chance — please contact the Sudbury Animal Shelter at 705‑694‑PETS (7387) or [email protected]

Every pet deserves safety, kindness, and a voice. If you ever witness neglect or something that doesn’t feel right, you can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously 24/7. Speaking up protects the animals who can’t speak for themselves.

Wishing everyone a good and safe Easter weekend.

🐾 Pet of the Week: Dusty 🐾

The Greater Sudbury Animal Shelter surprised us with a poem for Dusty — and it’s too sweet not to share!

Meet Dusty, our little dirt devil

A speck of white with a patch of brown,
One floppy ear and a smudgy crown.
Two months old and full of flair,
With puppy chaos everywhere.

A Sudbury special, through and through,
A mystery mix — no one quite knew.
What breeds lie in that wiggly frame?
(We’ve got DNA kits… you could play that game)

He pounces, he nibbles, he zooms, he chews,
He’ll redecorate socks and untie your shoes.
There will be puddles — yes, it’s true,
And tiny teeth that test you too.

But in between the mischief and mess,
Are cuddles, love, and pure happiness.
A best friend growing day by day,
If you’re ready to guide him on his way.

Think you’re the one? Here’s where to start:
Submit an application and show us your heart.
We’ll review each one and follow through,
Reaching out if he’s the right fit for you.

Meet-and-greets are booked — no drop-ins, please,
We like to keep things calm and neat.
So take your chance, don’t let him pass…
Dusty’s ready to find his match.

⚠️ Road Safety Reminder – March 23, 2026 ❄️

City crews and contractors are working tirelessly and we appreciate the community’s patience as snow cleanup continues.

Massive snowbanks are making it harder for both drivers and pedestrians to see each other. With many sidewalks still buried while roadways remain the priority, some pedestrians have no choice but to walk on the road.

With pedestrians forced onto the road in some areas, it’s more important than ever for motorists to slow down, stay alert and be patient.

🚶‍♀️ Pedestrians
- Use cleared sidewalks when available
- If you must walk on the road, face traffic and stay as far to the side as possible
- Wear bright or reflective clothing
- Take extra care at crossings where snowbanks block sightlines

🚗 Motorists
- Slow down at intersections and be ready to stop
- Look twice for people or vehicles hidden behind snowbanks
- Be patient with pedestrians walking on the roadway
- Reduce speed

Thank you for staying cautious, staying kind, and helping keep everyone safe during these challenging times.
