About Us

Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting

In April 2020 Better Beginnings Better Futures received funding from Ontario Trillium Foundation to run Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting courses to families in the Greater Sudbury area.

Positive discipline is an approach that aims to help parents understand their children’s development while respecting their rights. It is not about quick fix solutions, rather, PDEP focuses around understanding the uniqueness of how each child thinks and feels. The program promotes emotional self-regulation in both parents and children in order to effectively resolve conflict in the home, all the while normalizing the challenges parents and caregivers face. The program is based on research on healthy child development, child’s rights and research on effective parenting.

The program is divided into 8, 1.5 hour, in-person sessions. With restrictions in place due to COVID 19, we are currently offering 4, condensed sessions, 3 hours in length in order to minimize risk of exposure. Upon completion, participants will receive an attendance certificate along with the PDEP parent book. To register please contact Jessica Maisonneuve at (705) 671 1941 ext 260 or by email at [email protected]
