This past Saturday, in partnership with Sudburys Centre for Transitional Care, we had an appreciation and celebratory gala we called, "We Are All The Same, Beneath The Stars."
We can't thank everyone enough for all the support, thousands of donations of clothing, household items and so much more for the community throughout the years, the positive media coverage, the love and the kindness that this group is.
Thank you from all of our hearts ❤️

Coming up quickly!!! Next Saturday January 27th at the steelworkers hall.
We are hoping for some sponsorships of tables to be able to have many of our participants attend this beautiful event.
We are also looking for silent auction items and will happily accept any donations towards our tables.

I keep seeing so many posts where people are looking for places to donate their winter coats, blankets, boots etc for homeless people in need.
I'd like to make a post for all the different groups who are out there giving out all these items to those in the most need.

Good morning everyone!!! Happy Friday ❤️
Reminder, today from 11am-2pm is our indoor donation day giveaway at 495 Notre Dame ave!!!
Today also happens to be Freed from Need's 3 year anniversary.
As I sit here writing this, the emotions are overwhelming. I remember back in the beginning, so many times the same questions, why are you doing this, what do you mean it's all free....people didn't understand lol so so many times.
But there were others, others who very much did understand and did also see the need for a group and community like this. And those others came together, and they donated and they shared posts and they volunteered and they helped however they could because they too knew that we needed it.
And this little idea of forming a group where people could ask for items without being shamed came to life, and did it ever!!! We have grown to over 10,000 members in this 3 years.
Thank you to each and every one of yous for finding our group, for donating to others, for the resources you share, for the kind words when others are struggling, for supporting our events and programs, for the endless amounts of donations that come through our doors, and most importantly, for building Freed from Need into the amazing community it is!!
To the moderators of this group, who we were once all strangers to each other, thank you deeply for everything you all do, you are an amazing team ❤️
Every act of kindness makes a difference whether you know it or not, that coffee to the stranger on the corner or that bedding to a person who just got a new place, it all matters.
We appreciate you all so much, thank you 🥲

Also our Christmas toy drive is still currently running and will be until DEC.15th.
Saturday December 16th we will be having a wrapping party to get all these gifts wrapped up and ready for our holiday helpers to start delivering the week of Dec.18-22nd. 🥳

The last two years we had over 500 kids registered and were able to help 135 each year.
This year we already have over 400 registered children and are hoping to be able to help them all ❤️😁

GOOD EVENING, IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN WHERE WE ARE STARTING REGISTRATIONS FOR OUR CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE.
PLEASE FILL OUT AND SUBMIT THE FORMS BEFORE NOVEMBER 15TH IN ORDER FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO BE REGISTERED.

REMINDER LIKE LAST YEAR, REGISTRATION DOES NOT MEAN AN AUTOMATIC PICKING. WE DO RANDOM PICKS OF NUMBERS AND DISBURSE ALL DONATIONS TO THOSE CHILDREN CHOSEN UNTIL WE RUN OUT.

FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO DONATE TOYS, PLEASE MESSAGE Tina Lakatos FOR THE TIME BEING UNTIL WE GET OUR DONATION BOXES SET UP AT LOCATIONS AROUND THE CITY.
