Skills for Success Day is coming up on September 18, 2025. Download free resources today.

Skills for Success Day raises awareness about the key skills needed to succeed in learning, work and life. These skills, as identified by the Government of Canada (reading, writing, numeracy, digital, problem solving, communication, collaboration, adaptability, creativity and innovation), are the foundation for learning all other skills and enable people to evolve with their jobs and adapt to change.

The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) replaced Canada’s GED on May 3, 2024, offering a made‑in‑Canada high‑school equivalency certificate. Available in English & French, with five subject tests: Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Candidates must achieve 55% or higher in each of the five sub-tests to pass.

The CAEC was designed for adults who are seeking jobs, training, apprenticeships, or post-secondary education, but don’t have a high school diploma, opening doors to employment, apprenticeships, college or university, just like a high school diploma. It also offers a relevant, flexible pathway tailored to adults balancing life, work and learning.

The CAEC test must be taken in the province or territory in which you live. Please consult your provincial or territorial government website for details on how to write the exam. Existing GED credits can be transferred toward the CAEC until May 3, 2027.

There are many online courses, practice tests and community learning centres where you can prepare for the test. To find a local learning centre near you, visit LookUnderLearn.ca.
