Well, I have recently found myself involved in a situation that I would not have otherwise chosen to participate in, fostering animals. Those who know me personally are aware that this is not my preferred course of action, and I must admit that I have certain reservations regarding this endeavor. One of the primary concerns for me is the emotional attachment that inevitably forms between the animals and their caregivers, only to be severed when the animals are placed in new homes. I must be candid and acknowledge that, in my opinion, this process can be quite distressing. While it is undoubtedly true that the animals are provided with a better life, it is equally important to recognize the emotional toll that this transition can exact. The experience is not dissimilar from that of pets who are surrendered to shelters, leaving them feeling lost and frightened. As for the kittens that are born outdoors and require our care after being separated from their mother, we effectively become their surrogate caregivers, earning their trust and forming a bond with them. I must reiterate that this aspect of rescue and fostering is particularly challenging for me. My true passion lies in providing support to homeless cats that thrive in outdoor environments, relying on me for sustenance and care. To the kittens that I have had the privilege of caring for, I extend my sincerest wishes for a bright and happy future with your new family. As I prepare to bid you farewell and transfer your care to another provider, who will accompany you to your new home, I must confess that I am somewhat opinionated regarding the rescue and foster process. I will shed one final tear as I say my goodbyes. 💔
