🥶 We survived the deep freeze! Now it’s time to wake from hibernation, and La Palestre has you covered for all the weekend action! 🏒🥌

🏒 Hockey Highlights:

U13 Hornets swept Round 1 of Provincials. Way to go, champs! 🏆
U15 Hornets had a 3-game winning weekend and are now tied for 1st in the league 🔥
Sr. Hornets hit the road with a 1-1 weekend record, keeping the playoff hunt alive!

📅 Coming Up:

Friday: U15 Provincials kick off at home. Come out and cheer them on!
Back-to-back home games for the Sr. Hornets as they fight to secure a playoff spot.
Saturday: FREE Learn to Curl to celebrate Curling Day in Canada 🥌

Have you heard?? Curling Day in Canada is fast approaching! A FREE Learn to Curl event is happening to celebrate!

What? A FREE learn to curl: basic terminology & understanding of the game, sweeping, sliding, turns & more!
When? 1:00-3:00pm Jan 31st
Who? Anyone 7 years and older.
Where? Gravelbourg Curling Club
How? Just show up wearing some warm clothes and bring a clean pair of running shoes. We provide the sliders and brooms.

*No outside shoes allowed on ice surface. Should a clean pair of shoes not be brought, we reserve the right to not allow you out on the ice.

⛸️ Calling All Community Champions! ⛸️

Our little Skate Lending Library has been growing faster than we ever imagined, and it’s been amazing to see so many people in our community getting out on the ice. To keep everyone gliding smoothly, we’re reaching out for a bit of help.

We’re currently looking for:

🔵Gently used figure or hockey skates — adult sizes especially welcome!

🔵Skate laces

🔵Sharpening services (if you or someone you know offers this, we’d love to connect)

If you have skates sitting in a closet, or if you’re able to donate supplies or services, your contribution will help more people enjoy skating without barriers. Just drop them off at the Skate Library.

Thank you for helping us keep this project rolling (and skating). Our community is better because of people like you.

❄️⛸ Skating season is almost here, Gravelbourg! ⛸❄️

Just a heads-up that registration for the Gravelbourg Skating Club is coming up fast—Thursday, November 6 at 4:00 PM! Lessons run Thursdays from 4:30–5:30, November through March.

🛑 Helmets are mandatory for all skaters🧤 Warm clothing —snow pants, mittens, and winter jackets to keep those smiles warm on the ice!

The future of skating in Gravelbourg...

🧊 Something Big is Coming at La Palestre!

La Palestre isn’t just a rink, it’s the heartbeat of Gravelbourg. Since 1981, it’s been home to hockey, curling, skating, tournaments and countless community events.

But here’s the reality: our ice plant is aging, running on R-22 refrigerant that will be phased out in Canada by 2030. Repairs are getting harder and more expensive and without upgrades, keeping the doors open could become a challenge.

Over the next few months, we’re launching a campaign to share the story of La Palestre, from its history, to the urgent upgrades needed, to the exciting future we’re planning together.

We’re trying to take things slow as we continue building, but it’s so hard to slow down when the energy and excitement are this high! Every step forward is getting us closer to something amazing. 💪✨
