It is with sad hearts, that we share with you the news of a loss for our team. The husband of our Reception/Team Support, Telayna Connelley, Quinton Connolley passed away suddenly last week, leaving his young family and children behind. Our hearts are full for our teammate and her family, we ask for prayers for them and our team.

We are joining with the Alliance Church and their wrap around support. Please consider donating to this wonderful family at this time.

✨Graduate Story✨

Hi, I am an addict. The difference today is that I am a recovering addict. I came into Rising Above in 2023 hopeless, defeated, and suicidal. At that point, I believed I was nothing but a ju**ie and would die with a needle in my arm. That was what my hope was for myself.

But a fire was lit in me when I started the program. I wanted recovery. I wanted to get better. I wanted to give my babies their mom back. I was determined and motivated. My legacy was not going to be that I died a ju**ie.

I graduated and moved into 2nd stage housing where I lived for 17 months. It gave me extra time to build a solid foundation and prepare myself to go out into the world on my own again.

Today, I love myself. I can say that and mean it. I love recovery. I love everyone in my life who loves and supports me. I am a present mom today. I owe my life to my Rising Above family, my NA family, my children, and I can't forget...myself.

💙LOVE💙

Many of us struggle with shame, hurt and broken relationships.
This is no different from those struggling with addictions, in this struggle it may be difficult to feel love.

Recovery is often about more than overcoming substance use — it is about learning to love yourself again, accepting support from others, and building healthy relationships.

Love looks like encouragement on hard days, grace during setbacks, accountability, and people who choose to walk alongside you through the healing process.

At Rising Above, we believe every person deserves compassion, support, and the opportunity for a new beginning. Recovery reminds us that no one is too far gone and that healing can happen when people are surrounded by love and hope. 💙

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not jealous; love does not brag, it is not arrogant. It does not act disgracefully, it does not seek its own benefit; it is not provoked, does not keep an account of a wrong suffered, it does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; it keeps every confidence, it believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7

✨FAITH✨

Faith can play a powerful role in the recovery journey. In moments of weakness, fear, and uncertainty, faith reminds us that we are not walking alone and that God is mindful of us. 💙

Recovery is not always easy. There are days filled with victory and hope, and others filled with challenges and setbacks. Yet faith gives strength to keep moving forward, even one small step at a time.

Now Faith is the certainty of things hoped for, a proof of things not seen. For by it the people of old gained approval.
- Hebrews 11:1-2

Today, we encourage you to pray for those walking through recovery and remind them they are seen, valued, and never beyond hope. 🤝

✨ The Final Countdown! ✨

Over the next little while, we will be preparing new furniture and appliances, packing up, and moving our men from Park Campus into their new home.

This move represents so much more than a new building. It represents growth, new opportunities, healing, and hope for the individuals walking through recovery at Rising Above.

Some of the participants have taken a quick tour and are feeling the love that Grande Prairie is showing for them in the attention to detail and hominess seen in each room.

We ask that you keep our staff, volunteers, and participants in your prayers during this long-anticipated transition. Pray for peace throughout the move, strength for everyone involved, and that this new space would continue to be a place where lives are changed and hope is restored. 💙

If you have a church team or group that would like to volunteer some time over the next few weeks, we would love to hear from you and share the details of our current needs.

✨Celebrating 3 Graduates at Rising Above!✨

We are so proud to celebrate three incredible graduates from Rising Above. They have worked through some very difficult parts of their past with courage, strength, and determination.

Recovery is never easy, but they chose to keep moving forward, facing challenges head-on and embracing the hard work of healing and growth.

We are incredibly proud of how far they have come and the perseverance they have shown throughout their journey.

We can’t wait to see what God has in store for the next chapter of their lives. Please join us in celebrating them and cheering them on as they step into this new season! 💙🎉

⭐Join Our Team!⭐

Rising Above is a registered Canadian charity in Grande Prairie, Alberta, offering a Christian-based six-month residential recovery program, and Inner Healing support for both participants and the wider community. We were founded in 2007 to address the shortage of treatment options in Northern Alberta. Our program provides a holistic, abstinence-based, live-in environment that helps individuals break cycles of defeat related to addiction, by getting to the root cause of lie-based beliefs, while remaining accessible and affordable.

We are currently growing our team to meet the needs of our program expansion and New Building.

✨HOPE✨

Most of us have experienced the weighed down feelings of hopelessness, grief, addiction, trauma, loss, fear, or mistakes from the past. Maybe you’ve wondered if things could ever truly change.

We want you to know there is still hope. 💙

Recovery is not always easy, and there are days when hope can feel far away. We have seen lives transformed when individuals choose to take one step forward at a time. Hope reminds us that change is possible and that a new chapter can begin, even in the middle of brokenness.💙

One of our core values is hope. We believe nobody is beyond the scope of embracing recovery and a fulfilled life.

No matter where you are in your journey, you are not alone.

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a future.
