The Ken Sargent House is a home away from home for patients receiving treatment in Grande Prairie and their families.

Our facility will offer 21 suites, a kitchen, communal living space, office space, and laundry.

The Ken Sargent House's vision is to be more than a place to stay. It'll provide welcoming, inclusive, and supportive accommodations close to the hospital; keeping families together and giving them a comfortable place to rest and recharge.

With an affordable nightly rate helping to support ongoing operations, Ken Sargent House is designed to provide sustainable, long-term accommodation for those travelling to Grande Prairie for medical care. Shared kitchens, laundry facilities, welcoming common spaces and other thoughtfully designed amenities allow the House to serve multiple guests and families efficiently while providing the comfort and convenience of a home away from home.

We’re building a space that responds to the needs of the families we serve today and for years to come.

The House Administration Office may be a workspace, but it’s where so much of the care at Ken Sargent House begins.

From coordinating schedules and family needs to welcoming volunteers, organizing support, and keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly, this is where our team works behind the scenes to ensure every family feels supported. Behind every welcoming space, clean room, thoughtful check-in, and moment of reassurance is a team working together with one goal in mind: caring for the families who call Ken Sargent House their temporary home. ❤️

Honouring the Life of Royce Peterson ❤️

When Royce Bernard Peterson passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 90, his family chose to honour his life in a way that reflected something very close to his heart: caring for children and families. In lieu of flowers, they invited friends and loved ones to make memorial donations to Ken Sargent House.

For the Peterson family, these gifts became a way to turn grief into gratitude, honouring Royce’s life, the people who cared for him, and the opportunity to help other families through difficult days.

Royce spent more than 30 years farming near Bonanza with his wife, Gladys, and together they raised two daughters. He was remembered for his strong values, sense of humour, willingness to lend a hand and, most importantly, his love of family. He also held a special place in his heart for children.

That legacy will now continue through Ken Sargent House.

Memorial gifts made in Royce’s honour will help provide a welcoming, affordable home away from home for patients and families travelling to Grande Prairie for medical care, giving them a place to rest, share a meal and stay close to one another when they need it most.

To the Peterson family, and to everyone who made a gift in Royce’s memory, thank you for choosing to turn remembrance into comfort, compassion and care. His story will now become part of the story of Ken Sargent House. ❤️

September 30 is both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. 🧡

Ken Sargent House recognizes the importance of honouring the Indigenous children who never returned home from Canadian residential schools, along with school survivors, their families, and the communities who were traumatized for 160 years.
We hope all Canadians will wear an orange shirt in remembrance of thousands of stolen and lost Indigenous children.
Every Child Matters.
