World Tourism Day is coming up on September 27, and we're starting the celebration early.

Why? Because tourism is about going somewhere, but its impact goes much farther.

Here in Northwestern Alberta, tourism supports local businesses and jobs, attracts investment and helps create vibrant communities that people want to visit, live and work in.

And behind it all are the tourism businesses who create the experiences, host the events, serve the meals, welcome visitors and give people a reason to explore our region.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be celebrating what tourism brings to Northwestern Alberta, and the people and places that make it possible.

Follow along, join the conversation and maybe discover somewhere new along the way.

Go Farther and find The North You Didn't Expect.

What should we build on? Where are the opportunities? What matters to you?

Take our Resident Sentiment Survey and help shape what comes next. Alberta residents 18+ who complete the survey between August 31 and September 18 can enter the draw for a $100 CAD Canadian Tire gift card.

Some of Alberta’s most breathtaking landscapes are waiting closer than you think.

Located along the scenic route near Grande Cache, Sulphur Gates offers a dramatic introduction to the rugged beauty of Northwestern Alberta. Towering canyon walls, the winding Smoky River, and sweeping viewpoints create a landscape that feels both powerful and untouched.

Take the drive, explore the viewpoints and trails, and experience the raw beauty waiting to be discovered along the way. 🗺️

Forget 88 mph. ⚡

Our version of Back to the Future takes you straight to the past.

Experience massive steam engines from the early 1900s, explore historic buildings, and reward yourself with a famous stone-oven cinnamon bun that's worth the trip on its own.

Summer won't last forever, and neither will museum season.
