Pow Wow Dance Practice Tonight!

We have the go-ahead to host dance practice at Holy Cross Catholic School (11011 90 St) tonight from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM!

Updates about future practices will be shared as they become available.

We welcome all youth ages 12-17 to join us this Thursday, October 1 from 6-8pm for our "Circle of Strength" drop-in program first session, with Health Navigation and Northern Indigenous Health Alliance - HIV Outreach in Alberta's North at the 10507 98th ave GPFC location (orange door on east side). At this session, the youth will be creating pins for the upcoming Sisters in Spirit Walk, to give as gifts to those who participate and to remind us of the story of the healing jingle dance. Hope to see everyone tomorrow for the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation 🪶

Join us for our Orange Shirt Day - 5KM Walk/Run on September 30 as we come together in the spirit of truth, remembrance and reconciliation.

📅 September 30 at Muskoseepi Park Amphitheatre
⏰ Registration begins at 4:00 p.m.
👟 Walk/run starts at 5:00 p.m.

Orange shirts will be available for purchase, and participants can purchase a commemorative medal for $15 each.

Everyone is welcome! Together, we walk because Every Child Matters. Please wear orange.

As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and remember all we lost, we simultaneously focus on our strengths and all we have to celebrate as Indigenous people too.

Pitone is proud to showcase the youth in our community this month, spending time together and growing in their friendships and community connections, while learning culture, Science, how to care for a garden, volunteering and more. All of this happened thanks to the youth and our amazing partners at Ducks Unlimited Canada, wonderful people of the tri-school divisions and Elder Barb Goodswimmer at the Guardians of the Land Youth Day Camp on September 18th.

We are delighted to point out that we have new members, and the younger youth are also now coming forward to volunteer in the community, like at last weekends Traditional Tea Dance! Something worth celebrating indeed; our future looks strong and bright in these young people!

Coming up tonight: the Indigenous Youth Council Info Session at 6pm at 10105 97th Ave, 2nd floor (buzz "youth"). Indigenous youth in grades 8-12 welcome, and caregivers encouraged to come as well.
