February is Black History Month! 🖤🎉

We are proud to kick off Black History Month here in Grande Prairie with six events happening throughout the month.

Reflecting on this year’s theme, Maureen Edomwonyi, Executive Director of Grande Prairie Intercultural Association, shares:

“This year’s theme is deeply personal and intentional. It honours the strength, sacrifice, and brilliance of our elders and veterans who laid the foundation, recognizes the resilience and leadership of adults who continue to carry the work forward, and uplifts our youth as tomorrow’s visionaries.

Across our initiatives, we are creating space to remember, to heal, and to celebrate Black excellence—past, present, and future—while ensuring the next generation knows they stand on powerful shoulders.”

We invite you to join us as we experience, learn about, and recognize Black History Month in our community.
