A Step Above Learning Society

A Step Above Learning Society We provide inclusive family support services to our community. Our childcare programs use various aspects from multiple childcare theories and curriculums.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide inclusive family support services to our community by giving every family the ability to access high quality, affordable family programs that meet the unique needs of each family. Philosophy
A Step Above Learning Society believes that all families are unique and deserve to be treated with respect and understanding. Our programs support the learning an

d growth of every family member by providing the support they want and need. These theories include Montessori, Emilia Reggio, Flight, and Waldorf. We believe children are naturally curious and eager learners; therefore, we offer a developmentally appropriate play-based child lead curriculum. We strive to enhance young children's social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual growth. Our program fosters curiosity, creativity, and self-esteem by considering children’s abilities and interests. Our educators encourage children to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in their daily experiences. The environment is carefully designed to reflect the children’s interests and cultures, cultivating a positive self-image and independence. Our family support programs will support families by offering non-judgmental, trauma-informed support. Our family support workers will advocate with and mentor families on topics related to the education system, behaviour guidance, and exceptionalities. We will work with other community services to obtain the best possible way to meet the needs of our families. We believe that all children and families are unique. In that respect, they must be treated with kindness, respect, and consideration in all situations. Vision
We aim to create proactive strategies to develop an environment that promotes positive relationships and respectful interaction to enhance all aspects of children and family development. A Step Above Learning Society will support families by working together to provide a solid learning foundation that allows our families to EXPLORE, EXPERIENCE and SUCCEED!

🌱 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Families! 🌱

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the families who generously donated to our gardens this year.

Thanks to your support, our garden beds are thriving! The children and educators have been enjoying the experience of planting, nurturing, and watching flowers, vegetables, strawberries, and herbs grow throughout the season. These gardens have become more than just a beautiful addition to our outdoor space—they are providing valuable hands-on learning opportunities for the children every day.

The care, patience, and attention that go into maintaining these garden beds have helped teach the children about responsibility, nature, healthy foods, and the rewards of hard work. There is nothing quite like seeing the excitement on their faces when they discover a new flower blooming or a strawberry ready to be picked.

Thank you for helping us create these meaningful experiences and for contributing to a space where children can learn, explore, and grow alongside nature. We are so grateful for your generosity and support. 🌻🍓🥕💚

Today was one of those moments that reminds me what being part of a workplace family is all about. ❤️

A huge thank you to Agna and Tony for stopping by to introduce us to their beautiful new baby. It was so wonderful to meet the newest addition to their family and celebrate this exciting new chapter with them.

One of the things I love most about A Step Above is that we're more than just coworkers—we celebrate each other's milestones, support one another through life's seasons, and build genuine relationships along the way.

Thank you, Agna and Tony, for sharing this special moment with your A Step Above family. We are so happy for you and can't wait to watch your little one grow. 💕

This is what true community is all about.

💚 **Confident Drop-Offs Make a Big Difference** 💚

As an Early Childhood Educator, one of the most common things I hear is, *"They cry every morning... am I doing something wrong?"*

The truth is, tears at drop-off can be completely normal. What often has the biggest impact isn't whether your child cries it's how we respond to those emotions.

Children are incredibly tuned in to our emotions. If we hesitate, linger, repeatedly come back for "one more hug," or appear unsure, it can unintentionally send the message that daycare isn't a safe place or that there's something to worry about.

A calm, confident, and loving goodbye tells your child:
✨ "You're safe."
✨ "I trust your teachers."
✨ "I know you'll have a great day."
✨ "I'll always come back for you."

This doesn't mean rushing your child or ignoring their feelings. It means acknowledging their emotions ("I know you're sad"), offering reassurance ("I'll be back after work"), giving one loving hug, and confidently following through.

One of the amazing things about early childhood is that many children settle within just a few minutes after their parent leaves. Once they begin playing, connecting with educators, and engaging with friends, those big feelings often pass much more quickly than parents imagine.

Remember, confidence doesn't mean your child won't cry it means you're helping them build resilience, trust, and independence while showing them that big feelings are okay and that they can move through them, even without you.

Every goodbye is an opportunity to build confidence for both you and your child. ❤️
