Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker Hockey Tournament We are a Local Non Profit Memorial Hockey Tournament. After Mr. That charity The Grande Cache Children’s Assistance Fund. Our initial goals were modest.

The Original “Icebreaker Tournament” was hosted by Larry Miners as a year-end wrap up for local recreational hockey teams. Miners passed away, a committee of volunteers was formed to keep up the tradition of this fine event. At that time the committee also felt that we could use the tournament as a medium to raise funds for a local charity that was in need of support. We felt that if we provided

fun weekend of hockey for the participants and raised $500.00
for the charity we would have done a great job. Needless to say we were quite overwhelmed when this
wonderful community rallied behind us and we were able
to hand over a cheque to The Grande Cache Children’s Assistance Fund for $5000.00! The tournament has taken off since then and we are proud to
announce that we have been able to give back over $200,000.00
to local charities, youth groups and families in need since our establishment in 1998. This tournament has also taken on the role of a ‘Memorial’ event. Annually – we publicly and as an entire community – take the time
to remember our fellow hockey players with whom we shared the ice. Those times will never be forgotten, neither will ‘Our Friends’.

We're looking forward to another great day on the course filled with friendly competition, great food, awesome prizes, and plenty of laughs—all while supporting the Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker.

The Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker Committee is thrilled to keep supporting our local athletes!

We are excited to be able to donate some brand-new ball bags for our U14 and U16 Girls teams. These custom bags are sporting the Cubs logo and are ready to carry all that gear through a winning season!

Supporting youth sports in Grande Cache is at the heart of what we do. We know these girls put in the hard work, and we’re proud to make sure they’re looking sharp and staying organized on the road and at home.

​Another Memorial Icebreaker is officially in the books, and our hearts are full.

​What started in 1998 as a way to bring our community together has grown into a tradition that defines the spirit of Grande Cache. This year was nothing short of legendary, and it wouldn't have been possible without the people who make this event breathe.
​To our players: Thank you for the heart, the hustle, and the sportsmanship you showed on the ice. You remind us every year why we love this game.

​To our volunteers: You are the backbone of the Icebreaker. From the early mornings at the rink to the behind-the-scenes magic, your dedication is what keeps us moving forward.
