We are a group of community-minded neighbors dedicated to service, fellowship, and making a positive difference. Through local projects, partnerships, and Rotary initiatives, we work together to strengthen Grand Forks and the Boundary Area to create lasting impact at home and beyond.

Mya Burch attended RYLA 2026.
Here are the topics she shared with us:
1: She was part of a young group of 50 Attendees (most under 25). She was comfortable & not intimidated.
2:The group was welcoming
- surprise attendance of previous classmate/friend.
3:Committees for Entertainment, Desserts, News updates
Team-building & Skill events. 4:Personal & Quiet Times daily
5:Group meals together in Cafeteria
6:Talent Show, Movie Night.
7:Learned:
- Public speaking tips.
- Learning about personal boundaries and respect for these.
- Communication (including non-verbal).
8:Favourite Moments:
- prize necklaces for demonstrating “leadership skills”.
- Meeting attendees from all over the world.
- Comparing language & habits from different cultures.
9: Departure - emotional & sad
10: Future Plans:
- Return as Junior Staff for next RYLA?
- Consider joining a Rotary Passport Club.

Our guest speaker this week was Don Backmeyer from Grand Forks Community Trails Society.
He shared with us all the wonderful work he and his team and collaborators are doing to maintain the beautiful Boundary trails that we are blessed to have.
Here are some of the topics he spoke about:
- Trails Manager Program -Collaboration with:
- Kettle River Cycling Association
- Phoenix Cross-Country Ski Society
- RDKB Funding
- Trail & Rec Site Maintenance
- RDKB Area D & (more recently) Area C
~ 125 km of trails maintained!
- Project Planning
- Summer Student employment program (4 students this year)
- Administration - including Grants management
- Communication & Collaboration
- Woodworkers Guild
- GF ATV Club

The Children and Youth Peace Festival was a beautiful event.
This was an event of the Boundary Peace Collective that includes GF Rotary, Boundary Museum and Archives Society, Boundary Peace Initiative, community individuals and the Doukhobor, Baha’i and Indigenous Communities.

Thank you to all the kids, families, volunteers and visitors who came.
