Animals are not objects. They are living beings with emotions, fear, pain, trust, and the ability to love. ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ’”

Every stray cat you pass was once a tiny kitten who depended on humans for safety. Many outdoor cats survive unimaginable hardships including injury, starvation, abuse, disease, weather, and loneliness.

Thatโ€™s why so many animal advocates push for stronger protections, better rescue efforts, and more compassion toward community and stray cats.

A cat is not โ€œjust an animal.โ€
Not โ€œjust a stray.โ€
Not disposable.

They are someone.

And every life deserves kindness.

At this mornings meeting we were honoured to have Local Artist David Seven Deers speak to the club.

He shared his recent trip to Lubeck Germany where he completed โ€œThe Spirit Canoeโ€ sculpture.

The sculpture symbolizes journey, connection, and the flow of life. The canoe represents the journey between worlds and cultures. In Coast Salish tradition, the canoe represents the connection to ancestors and the spiritual journey between different levels of existence.

The Grand Forks Rotary Club was approached with a unique opportunity: to consider serving as as the parent host Club for a group of refugees residing in Nakivale, Uganda. These individuals were actively seeking Rotary membership as a Companion Club, aiming to connect with our community and Rotaryโ€™s global network. After careful consideration the Grand Forks Rotary Club was pleased to accept the invitation. On January 22nd, a Virtual Induction Ceremony was held during the Clubโ€™s regular morning meeting. 25 new members were welcomed to the newly established Rotary Satellite Club of Success for Nakivale Grand Forks Companion Club, British Columbia, Canada. This Milestone marks a significant achievement for our club and community. Special thanks to the District 5080 Leadership team for recognizing our club as both the Districtโ€™s first Rotary Companion Club and first International Companion Club. Special thanks to our Mayor, Everett Baker for his heartfelt speech in welcoming the new members virtually to our community. Looking ahead, we are committed to learning more about the challenges that the Companion Club of Nakivale are faced with living in a refugee settlement as well as their hopes and aspirations as Rotary members. This partnership represents an opportunity for mutual growth and understanding.
