We are members of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, The Atlantic Provinces Numismatic Association and the club was founded in 1995. Coin Club
The Central NL. Coin Club was formed as a result of the interest shown in coin collecting at workshop of said topic at the Mary March Provincial Museum. The Museum was exhibiting the Frances Rowe collection of Newfoundland Coins and Paper Money at t
hat time in 1995. We are not sure of the exact date but it was in April of the same year. Shortly thereafter, a meeting was held at the Grand Falls-Windsor Arts and Culture Centre for interested and likeminded persons to attend and form a coin club. This meeting was attended by a dozen interested individuals, of which a core of a half dozen persons, the founding members, formed the Club. They were William Parks, Patricia Hickey, Leonard Wheeler, John Matthews and Robert Lodge. Our group meets once monthly, usually on the second Tuesday and has always had a core of five dedicated members that have kept the interest slowly but steadily growing. We have lost a few members along the way but we have also managed to slightly grow our membership which currently stands at 7 active members and 3 non-active members, which is the largest the group has been. Our club has always fostered passing on our knowledge and understanding of coins and collecting to our membership and the general public. We are a social group that shares information and good times with each other and we are always welcoming new interest and encouraging new members to share and ask questions. We have recently expanded our collecting interests to include stamp collecting as well.
