Café Joe in the Mi-Carême Centre on the wharf in Grand-Étang is hosting a talk about lobster research! 6:30 pm Thursday 24th July 2025.

YOU are invited to attend and learn about Ryan Bergman's research on juvenile lobster along our coastline. Ryan is working toward a Master of Science degree at St. Francis Xavier University.

This research is happening in our backyards (the ocean is our 'backyard'). You can ask questions and share your experiences!

INTRO: SARAH ⭐ (English follows)

Je m'appelle Sarah et je serais le gestionnaire de CMAG cet été. J'ai grandi près d'Edmonton, j'ai fait mon bac à l'Université d'Ottawa et j'ai déménagé à Nouvelle-Écosse en 2021 pour faire ma maîtrise en biologie chez St FX. Je m'intéresse en particulier aux invertébrés tels que les nudibranches, les méduses et les étoiles de mer. J'aime beaucoup lire, faire du camping, faire la randonnée et chanter à karaoke. Depuis que j'ai déménagé à Grand Étang, j'ai appris comment danser le set carré du Chéticamp et j'ai découvert que les gens autour d'ici sont vraiment amicals. J'ai hâte de passer mon été ici !

My name is Sarah and I will be the manager at GAMS this summer. I grew up near Edmonton, I did my Bachelor's degree at the University of Ottawa, and I moved to Nova Scotia in 2021 to do my Master's in Biology at St FX. I'm especially interested in invertebrates such as nudibranchs, jellyfish, and sea stars. I love reading, camping, hiking, and singing karaoke. Since moving to Grand Étang, I've learned how to dance the Chéticamp-style square set and I've discovered that the people up here are incredibly friendly. I'm excited to spend my summer here!

We are trying something new this summer: a chance for budding young scientists to learn a little about designing and planning experiments, using tools and equipment from the GAMS laboratory. Sarah et Beth font beaucoup de travail en coulisse pour préparer CMAG pour notre ouverture au début de juillet. Restez à l'écoute pour notre date d'ouverture exacte et des introductions de notre équipe afin de mieux connaîtere les personnes gérant le centre cet été. Nous avons hâte de vous voir !

Sarah and Beth are doing lots of work behind the scenes to get GAMS ready to open early July. Stay tuned for our opening day, and some team introductions to get to know the people running the Centre this summer. We can't wait to see you!
