Did you know that there is a museum on the west side of the lake that tells a similar story of railway history? If you are on the west shore stop in to see it and congratulate them on 20 years, almost twice as long as us.

From Carving to Canvas: Spotted Wolf & the Living Legacy of the Sagkeeng Carvers

The Winnipeg River Heritage Museum is proud to present the works of Larry Courchene, one of the presitigous Sagkeeng wood carvers. His carvings, paintings, and traditional crafts blend ancestral teachings, spirituality, and contemporary expression.

On loan from Carol & Ken Danwich, this exhibition traces his journey from traditional carving to bold canvas, reflecting deep connections to culture, identity, and land. Each piece carries living teachings and the enduring strength of his spirit.
